Happy birthday to me! 🎉

A few years ago, if you'd asked me where I'd be after finishing my MBA, I probably would've pictured an office, a corporate ladder, and a completely different career path. I never would've guessed I'd be crawling through century-old barns, hauling reclaimed lumber, and getting genuinely excited about old saw marks and weathered grain.

And honestly... I wouldn't change a thing.

When I started Nine Pines in August of 2023, I had no idea where this journey would lead. I had just turned 30, and had a wild idea to start a company focused on saving structures and the history that was being ignored or forgotten in our area. Since then, I have learned more than I ever thought possible and met some of the most genuine, hardworking, salt-of-the-earth people I've ever had the privilege of knowing.

This business has given me so much more than I expected. New skills, countless stories, a deep appreciation for the history hidden inside old lumber, and the opportunity to spend every day building something meaningful alongside my favorite person in the world.

Thank you to every customer, every supporter, and every person who's followed along on this adventure. Cheers to 33 - and seeing what the next old barn has in store! ✨

History Stamped Right Into the Wood 🪵

Just discovered this authentic mark on a piece of our reclaimed barnwood: Clark & Wilson Lumber Company. Oregon pioneers who fired up operations in Linnton back in 1905, harvested the mighty Columbia River forests, built major logging camps, and shipped quality Douglas fir far and wide until the timber ran out in 1947.

The “B-B” (B & Better) grade from the West Coast Lumbermen’s Association meant premium stock—built to last. 💪

Real Pacific Northwest history you can hold (and build with). We’re proud to rescue these stories at Nine Pines Barnwood.

Behind every Nine Pines project are two people who genuinely love what they do.

Nine Pines is proudly a 100% woman-owned small business. I keep the business running, while Adam is the talented craftsman behind many of the reclaimed wood projects you've come to know us for.

Together, we've spent countless hours saving old barns, hauling lumber, making a little too much sawdust, and turning forgotten wood into something built to last.

We're incredibly grateful for every customer who's chosen to support our dream. Thank you for following along and letting us be a small part of your homes and your stories.

Hammer On,

Desiree & Adam

Some lumber is valuable because it's old. Some is valuable because it's yours. ✨

This client salvaged lumber from a childhood family barn and gave it a second life as the centerpiece of their home's entryway. We sanded and sealed each board, bringing out decades of character while preserving the history that made it special.

If you have old family barnwood tucked away in a shed, stacked in a field, or waiting for "someday," we'd love to help turn it into something you'll enjoy every day. 🪵

Some of the smallest pieces to leave our shop have found homes all over the country - literally.

Believe it or not, these reclaimed barnwood doorstops are our best-selling item on Etsy. ☺

They're simple, sturdy, and each one is made from the trimmed ends of our reclaimed barnwood boards. Instead of tossing those beautiful offcuts into the burn pile, we give them a second life as something useful you'll reach for every day.

Durable. Functional. Full of character. 🪵

If these old insulators could talk...

We'd probably be there all afternoon listening.

These porcelain beauties once helped carry power across the countryside. Today, they serve as a reminder that even the smallest pieces of history have a story worth preserving. It's amazing how much craftsmanship was poured into even the everyday things.

We'd love to know—have you ever collected insulators?

P.S. - Yes, these are available for sale!

Some boxes carried nails. Others carried a little more...excitement.

This vintage DuPont blasting caps crate is a rugged reminder of the mining, logging, and railroad work that helped shape the American West. It is one heck of a conversation starter.

We built the mantel. Our customer made it their own.

This two-piece reclaimed barnwood mantel found its home above a beautiful stone fireplace, finished off with rustic hardware chosen and installed by the homeowner. We love seeing how each customer adds their own personal touch—it makes every project one of a kind.

Safe to say, this one turned out beautifully. 🤩

Built to work. Built to last.

This old tractor has earned every scratch, dent, and patch of rust. It reminds us of the generations of hardworking folks who built their lives one long day at a time.

They sure don't make them like this anymore.
