Knitting the way to baby bliss
2014: A week before Christmas I very suddenly and unexpectedly found myself admitted to the hospital with the possibility of having to delivery our first-born over a month early. Luckily diligent care and some strict rules turned the threat of early c-section into riding out our remaining 6 weeks on bed rest. To help pass the time I started knitting and soon my hospital room was decorated with more scarves than I'd ever be able to wear and no end to skeins to knit in sight. Thus, Natal Knits was born, and soon after our eagerly awaited son.
Every Christmas day I go back to our labor and delivery unit to deliver scarves to the nurses and doctors who have been scheduled to work and spend the day away from their own families. Proceeds from my scarf sales help support my family and go back into more yarn to make sure I can keep up this tradition.

2018 Update: nearly 5 years and two more babies later I'm still at it! Every Christmas we deliver scarves to the staff on the L&D floor. Knitting is still my primary craft, but I'm hoping to expand the shop into other goodies as my creative streak reaches new heights.
