Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!! I don’t normally post anything about myself but wanted to include you all in something exciting! For those that don’t know, I not only run this little free library, but I’m a local author as well. I write poetry, mystery, and romance and getting ready to release my 4th full-length novel next month! You may have even seen some of my books make their way into the blue box at some point 👀.

Every book I release, I offer early digital copies to what I like to call my ARC (accelerated reader copies) team. This allows you early access BEFORE it's been publicly released and the chance to try something new and help get the word out about it before the BIG day. If you're interested, sign ups are OPEN and I'd love to have you be a part of this new story. ✨📖

For the month of June, to kick off our summer, we are featuring historical fiction author: John!! 🎉✍🏻✌️

What’s it all about?? 👇🏻⬇️

HIDDEN IN THE ROOF:
He’s a proud N**i soldier. She’s a half-Jewish woman, keeping her identity hidden in the shadows. And they are married. In the heart of Munich during World War II, Adelaide Strauss has a mission. Inspired to join the N**i Resistance and covertly fight against Hi**er and his hateful regime, she undertakes dangerous and treasonous assignments for the organization. From stealing her husband’s classified letters to hiding people in her home, Adelaide must balance her allegiance to her husband, country, family, and persecuted people. Adelaide often wonders what fate awaits her if her husband finds out that he’s married to a Jewish woman and that he’s unwittingly harboring enemies of the Third Reich in his home. All goes well until one fateful September morning when secrets are revealed, lives are at stake, and Adelaide’s entire world comes crashing down in a few dramatic hours.

*HISTORICAL NOTE: In the book, Adelaide and her husband were married in 1932, seven years before World War II began. The N**is did promote anti-semitic ideology as their political party strengthened, but their campaign against the Jews greatly intensified in 1933 when Hi**er became Chancellor. It started with the National Boycott of Jewish Businesses in 1933. While largely unsuccessful, they had made their point clear: that Jewish people were not welcome in Germany and beyond. The Nuremberg Laws were introduced in 1935, followed by Kristallnacht in 1938. If Adelaide felt hesitant to reveal her heritage to her husband before any of these anti-Jewish laws and pogroms, she definitely would not want to now. Staying silent and continuing to outwardly support her husband’s job and political affiliations was her best chance for survival.

Author info: Katie John lives in Ohio with her husband, family, and two dogs! She enjoys reading and writing historical fiction, cooking, spending time outside, and going to museums and battlefields.
