The Wood

Each piece features a curated selection of premium hardwoods, chosen for their density, grain pattern, and natural durability:

Black Walnut: Prized for its deep, rich chocolate tones and exceptional strength.

Hard Maple: A kitchen classic, chosen for its tight grain, antimicrobial properties, and stunning chatoyancy (shimmer).

African Padauk: A striking exotic wood known for its unique vermillion hue that matures into a deep, rich cinnamon.

The Craftsmanship

Unlike mass-produced boards, this piece has undergone a rigorous refining process to ensure it remains a centerpiece of your kitchen for decades:

Grain-Popped Finish: The wood was "water-popped" during the sanding process to raise the fibers and shave them smooth. This ensures the board stays silky-to-the-touch, even after its first wash.

Deep-Conditioned: To protect the wood from the inside out, the board was fully submerged in a food-grade mineral oil soak to saturate the core fibers.

The Double-Seal: The final surface is protected by two hand-rubbed layers of "Board Butter"—a custom blend of organic beeswax, carnauba wax and mineral oil—providing a superior moisture barrier and a soft, natural luster.

A New Year and many new products, from sun-catchers for Valentine's day to some new designs of cutting and charcuterie boards. We are once again at Prescott Farmers Market this Saturday 7th February. Come and see all the amazing things we have been busy creating. Here are Wednesday's tasters. 🙂

We have been using a mixture of Black Walnut, Cherry, Padauk and Maple in the boards.
