Painting Near Lake Geneva by Carl Schlichting-Carlsen

Dated 1889 on the reverse, this landscape by Carl Schlichting-Carlsen reflects the artist’s training at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Though born in Germany, he spent much of his life in Denmark.
Discovered in Odense, Denmark, the painting is filled with bright sunlight, atmospheric blues, and wildflowers leading toward Lake Geneva.

Painted along the coast of Le Tréport, France, this work by Austrian landscape painter Rudolf Ribarz captures a woman making her way across the rocky shoreline with her skirts raised above the incoming waves.
Trained at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts, Ribarz later painted alongside Corot and members of the Barbizon School during his travels through France. We acquired this piece in Frankfurt, Germany.
