Hook'd For Life Fishing Adventures ππ£
Quick update and thoughts;
Wind has us grounded for the past two days. With just a little over a week left of chasing summer Kings before Hook'd For Life Fishing Adventures Walleye Fest 2026, I wanted to make a post based of several questions and comments I heard this past month.
The past two weeks found us (myself) capitalizing on the North Rivers range and versatility as we found the mature Kings in stable deeper water far off from where we would normally be this time of year. Many think we abandoned the home port, however, client appreciation remains highest when we make the effort to keep them on the king bite.
I have fielded several questions about this over the past week as anglers travel to the area expecting Salmon to be βin the trenchβ only to be frustrated as charters are no where to be found with very few Salmon.
Many times people struggle to understand the Eastern Basinβs hot/cold fishing waters. The local Captains watch, pattern, network and understand varying water conditions and know how to navigate to the most productive areas.
At that point, Charters make a decision. Either adjust target species and remain fishing for what is available or grossly divert locations to find what they are looking for. It is not a wrong or right choice, rather the realistic truth of our location.
To many FB followers, it seems the Henderson fleet is stuck on Lake Trout, however, there is a reason.
King Salmon will continue holding in the preferred waters throughout pre-staging periods and with our end being predominantly less than 200ft in depth, the water columns shift (sometimes dramatically) and may hold temps for 2-3 days up to a week before fronts/winds/currents naturally rebalance the basin. Lake Trout remain within temp at these depths regardless of shifts and will continue to be active.
We all should know weather diversely impacts our staging area annually. The Salmon arenβt gone, and we will remain a relevant fishery, yet this year we will simply had a tough July. The majority of Kings may continue holding off for weeks or could arrive soon with this SW/W push the past 36hrs. Hold onβ¦
Next year will tell a different story⦠I wish all of you a great remainder of the Salmon / Trout season. Marina Henderson HarborITZ Pro Fishing Sonny's Fishing Center & RV Supplies
