Books and the Constitution have something powerful in common: freedom.

Freedom to think. Freedom to speak. Freedom of the press. Freedom to read.

A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn tells American history through perspectives often left out of traditional accounts, and it has faced efforts to restrict its use in schools.

The freedom to read isn't about agreeing with every book. It's about having the opportunity to encounter different ideas, question them, challenge them, and decide for ourselves what we think.

On , we're celebrating the freedoms that allow books (and bookstores like ours) to exist.
