A day late for my but here’s my by that’s almost done! One sleeve left! I got a lot of knitting done on our drive up to Acadia yesterday! It was too hot to leave the dog in the car so I let hubby and the kids go into the botanical gardens in Boothbay while I worked on it. I might have to redo the cuff. It’s a little bit snug, I’ll see how it feels after blocking. On our way we stopped at a really nice little farmers market in Boothbay and just happened to run into Pat from and had a really nice chat about a sweater of hers that I’m working on. She’s so nice. I’m not loving the fitted version so she gave me a copy of the pattern of the unisex version.

Dye #2 went so well yesterday, as I wasn’t as nervous. The math is mathing! This colorway is so bright and almost perfectly matches my zinnias! I just love being able to use my nerdy science brain and my creative brain all in one amazing form of art! Experimenting with color mixing and application techniques is so fun! My kids love to help too, and are so excited for me to make them their own colorways. ❤️🧶💪

I absolutely love buying and using hand dyed yarn and I’ve always wanted to learn how to dye it myself, so I said why not now?! So a couple of months ago I enrolled in an online school and have been taking classes in color theory and dyeing. There is so much to learn and endless techniques. It is so fascinating!! There is actually a lot of math if you want to get repeatable results and recipes and formulas. It’s been really fulfilling and I’ve learned so much already. Today, I tried it out for the first time. I learned a few things and had so much fun!! I’m super proud of myself and the results. These first skeins aren’t perfect, but they are mine and they’re beautiful. I can’t wait until it’s dry to see how it truly looks so stay tuned.

F.O. Fridays!! I finished these cuties while camping in Vermont last week. Camping and knitting the most relaxing thing, in my opinion. I used the pattern and in the dragon fruit colorway. What’s your favorite sock knitting pattern?

Yesterday we drove home from our Vermont camping vacation and I was able to squeeze in two more yarn shop stops! I made it to 5 along the 91 shop hop. in Lebanon NH was an amazing store that was bright, cozy, friendly, and full of amazing yarns I hadn’t seen in person yet. I had so much fun exploring in there and talking to the owner! Such a beautiful store! in Brattleboro VT was an amazing treasure trove of all of their gorgeous yarns and kits! I’ve used their yarns before and loved it, but their line is extensive!! Plus you got to see into their dye studio which is super cool! I loved exploring their collection. The owner was so friendly and helpful, too. Both shops were dog friendly, which was awesome for Moose, as he loves yarn shops and meeting new people. I highly recommend visiting these shops if you’re in the area. I can not wait to go back!! I’m already planning my next trip. It makes my heart so happy to see these yarn shops thriving in these small towns. I added a pic of the fun treats I picked up along our travels. I can’t wait to try the maple cream tea! 😁❤️🧶

Vermont yarn shop fun!! Visiting local yarn shops is one of my favorite things to do every time I travel, even if it’s just to the other side of the state. We’re camping this week in Vermont and managed to visit three (so far)! I wish I had time (and money) for more, but there’s always next time! I was able to visit The Yarn Bank in St Johnsbury, Norwich Knits in Norwich, and the Woolly Thistle in West Lebanon. All three were absolutely amazing. The Yarn Bank and Norwich Knits carried a variety of local yarns and some of the usual commercially available varieties from luxury brands to encore. Something wonderful for everyone. The Woolly Thistle specialized in UK and European yarns and was so awesome to explore! I follow them on socials and have been dying to check them out. So many yarns I’ve never been able to see in person, and lots of beautiful kits and accessories. It just happens to be the great northern yarn crawl and the 91 shop hop, which made things extra fun. I might try to pop in to one more on my way home…😇I can’t wait to come back and do some more exploring! 🧶❤️

WIP wednesday a little late…. We’re in Vermont camping and have very limited internet access… but lots of knitting time! I’m working on the Devotion sweater still and had to redo the neckline! My pug made a bunch of stitches fall off at the center front decrease and I tried to fix it but it still didn’t end up lining up correctly. But I’m back on track now! You win some, you lose some. He’s lucky he’s cute!
