As a reminder to all Racine-area fishermen, the Racine County Parks bathrooms and fishing cleaning station at Racine Reefpoint Marina will be shut down for the season, effective tomorrow morning. WE Energies will be turning off the power for the eastern half of the peninsula and water by City of Racine to allow for the 2nd phase of the infrastructure upgrades related to Reefpoint Marina.

If you need bathrooms or to filet fish, the City of Racine station at the city boat launch will remain open as a solution for the remainder of the season. All systems at the Racine County Park station are anticipated to come back online next spring.

Another GREAT event, our brethren at Salmon Unlimited (Illinois) have their free Kids Derby (details below) going on in Waukegan. If your free to volunteer or to participate, see below for details and how to sign up!

Although two separate organizations (of which you can join as a member to either or BOTH), both Salmon Unlimited of Wisconsin and Salmon Unlimited Inc (Illinois) share similar similar mission goals such as encouraging the community to join in sportfishing and recruit the next generation of anglers.

We invite members and the public to join us Wednesday, September 9th for our monthly Salmon Unlimited - Wisconsin membership meeting. Our guest speaker is one of the best captains and tournament fishermen on Lake Michigan, Jim Mueller of Stormtrooper! Jim will be speaking about some of his meat presentations and strategies for the late-season run and taking Q&A from the crowd.

Today, several members met with Sara from Virginia Tech and did a in person Fishing Survey. This is a part of her Masters degree.
We would like to encourage All Fishermen to take the time to take the Survey.

A great supporter of our community, gone too soon.

Dear Salmon Unlimited Members:
We have some sad news to pass along. Board member John Scigala recently passed away. John was a very active participant in Salmon Unlimited for many years and was well-known for organizing the annual swap meet. We do not have details about any funeral services yet, but will pass along the details when we are made aware. Our prayers, thoughts, and condolences go out to his family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that SU board member John Scigala has unexpectedly passed away. When arrangements for memorial services have been made, we will post that information here.
