Our Intro to Tooling classes are always a blast! For this class, we used our 76605-00 Craftaid®. Our Raleigh store location does a tooling class at least once a month and we're always using a different design. If you're looking for a great way to practice you skills, come take our Intro to Tooling class!

Check out what our customer Mary made experimenting with different coloring techniques. This belt was stamped with our Dragonscale Brass Stamp and colored with Green Fiebing's Pro Dye, Neutral Fiebings Antique Finish and mixed with Copper Angelus paint. After drying, Mary did a sponge technique and dabbed bits of green and copper paint over the top.

🎃 Halloween Carving Contest Entry! 🎃

👻 Hi everyone! My name is Kelly from your local Tandy store in Raleigh, and I’m thrilled to share my entry for the Halloween carving contest!

🛠️ Here are the tools I used to create my spooky masterpiece:

To create this design, I started by beveling the main outline. I stretched the leather and filled it with a combination of rubber cement and scrap bevels and dust. I was then able to carve the full design using the Craftool® Figure Bevelers. This design contains a lot of knife work and a lot of work with the Craftool Modeling Tools 8039- series. My preferred knife while working on this was the Craftool® Twist Lock 8003-00. The carving process took approximately 4 to 5 hours. After drying overnight, I colored my design using Angelus paints and finishing with the Fiebing's Antique Paste. This artwork and several other pieces are all on display at our Raleigh location.

One of favorite things is seeing customers come back and show off what they created with our leather. This suede leather made it's way back in the form of a hat and they were even nice enough to model it for us! Thanks for sharing, we can't wait to see your next project!
