Turns out, these were the grand moments.

Not the big plans or the perfectly posed pictures. The afternoons at Grandma’s house. Piling into her chair. Being silly. Being together.

When I started Grand Moments, grandparents were actually a big part of the idea. I wanted to make it easier for grandparents and other grown-ups to have something ready to do with the kids they love.

But the longer I’ve done this, the more I’ve realized the activity was never really the point.

It was giving them a reason to sit down together.

The ordinary little things that don’t feel particularly important while they’re happening, but somehow become the things you remember.

Happy Grandparents Day to the people who make ordinary childhood feel pretty grand. 🤍

Found this parked in the bathroom.

No idea why. Well maybe one guess 😂. Just a dinosaur car exactly where someone apparently thought it belonged.

The theme may have escaped the craft table, but these are the little signs of childhood I want to remember.

These dinosaur books are full of big laughs, big imaginations, and plenty of prehistoric fun. Here’s why we love each one.

1️⃣ Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug by Jonathan Stutzman
Such a sweet one! Tiny T. Rex has very tiny arms and one very big problem to solve. A funny, heartwarming story about friendship, determination, and finding your own way to show someone you care.

2️⃣ We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins
This one always gets laughs. Penelope Rex has to learn a very important lesson when she starts school: classmates are friends, not food! Especially fun for back-to-school season.

3️⃣ National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs by Catherine D. Hughes
Our nonfiction pick! Packed with dinosaur facts and colorful illustrations for little ones who want to know everything about their favorite prehistoric creatures.

4️⃣ Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems
A hilarious dinosaur twist on a story kids already know. Silly, clever, and especially fun for little ones who are old enough to catch some of the jokes.

5️⃣ If the Dinosaurs Came Back by Bernard Most
Such a fun invitation to imagine! What if dinosaurs lived alongside us today? Kids get to dream up all the ways dinosaurs might help, play, and become part of everyday life.

💬 Tell us below. What’s your little dinosaur lover’s favorite book?

A little fine motor practice disguised as play. 🙌

Pinching, pulling, rolling, poking. All those movements are helping build strong hands for writing, cutting, getting dressed and all the other things those little hands are learning to do.

Our Fine Motor Skills Kit makes it easy to sneak in that practice without having to prep a thing. Just pull it out and play!

Available on our website.

Hello September 🦕

This month we’re stepping back in time with all things dinosaurs. Simple, hands-on play with plenty of digging, creating, and prehistoric fun.

I’m looking forward to a little routine coming back to our days and, hopefully, some cooler temperatures along with it. Ready for fresh starts, more time outside, and that first little hint of fall.

What are you looking forward to this September?

This week’s Tiny Challenge is Listen to the Night

Head outside after dark and listen closely.

Crickets, frogs, leaves, cars, birds...how many different nighttime sounds can you hear?

Simple play. Grand Moments.
