One thing about me…I’m going to dance offbeat and have fun with it ✨

And I had so much fun Black Is Beautiful Bridal Show back in July 🥰 I met some incredible brides and made some connections to help expand our MBS Scent Bar | Mobile Candle Bar for Events to begin hosting bridal showers, engagement parties, along with the cocktail hour during the reception of their wedding. Like yayyy 😆

One thing I know for certain…It’s never easy putting yourself out there…but always worth it. Never stop trying new things 🥰 and “dance like no one is watching”

Last night I had to celebrate!! Taking a chance to travel out of state to exhibit wasn’t a small feat…however…the payoff is unexplainable.

As someone that vends regularly…I’m so used to selling on the spot. So a different part of my brain had to be re-wired that some are just looking and may or may not come back. But you’re selling cases vs. single pieces. So again, it’s worth the wait.

Also, traveling out of state isn’t new to me..:even alone. But I’m used to driving everywhere. So adding on plane tickets, Ubering, and trusting that all my products would make it here all intact and on time was nerve wrecking to say the least.

However, one of the things I’m understanding is that in order to grow a muscle…it needs to be stretched and you need to add resistance (the unknown). And that’s where I am in my life. Taking on bigger challenges for much larger payoffs.

And I’m so glad that I’m no longer doing all the things on my own. I have a team to help. And that gives me so much pleasure as I’m able to put some monies in their pockets too 🙌🏾 and we’re always giving monies and time back to S.A.G.E.

And as we continue to grow…soon we’ll be able to add on team members to help make the products to allow me as the Visionary to fully operate in my Zone of Genius 😆

As always…your kind words, referrals, and monetary support is so appreciated !! And this business is much bigger than me…this is to create generational wealth. This is to show women that your value isn’t determined by anyone else but you and GOD. Back in 2018 I was literally dumped at lunch…found myself devastated…and decided to just make candles for my team back then. And that’s where my business started. Literally out of heartbreak…deciding to redirect that negativity into something positive.

Understanding that I’m not my circumstances. And this is why I show up. This why I’m loud and proud about my business because I’m literally fighting against the part of me saying I’m not good enough and I’m proving it wrong each and every time I yes to an opportunity and no to a distraction.

I’m so thankful!! Yall just don’t know 🥹

Day 1

Headed to my first Trade Show Ever !!! And it’s with NY NOW® and I’m so excited!!!!!!!!!!

Today and for the next couple of days I’ll meet over 500 brands to include boutiques and hotels with the opportunity to discuss my designer home fragrance line that can retail in their stores !!!!!!!!! Wow right !!

Keep praying for me as this is huge !!

5 Things I Wish Everyone Knew About Wood Wicks 🔥

1. Trim before every burn.
Keep it at about ⅛”. A too-tall wick can’t pull up enough wax, so it burns dim and struggles to stay lit. Two seconds of trimming = a clean, even burn every time.

2. That crackle is real — and intentional.
Wood wicks give you that soft campfire crackle you can actually hear. It’s one of my favorite parts of a designer candle.

3. Let it pool the first time.
On your first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges (about 1–2 hours). Wood wicks love a full melt pool — it prevents tunneling and sets up every burn after.

4. A little char is normal.
That blackened tip after burning? Totally expected. Just snap off the burnt part before relighting — no scissors required.

5. It’s a slower, warmer burn.
Wood wicks burn cooler and steadier than cotton, so your candle lasts longer and throws that soft, even scent through the room. Patience pays off.

Comfortability is equivalent to complacency. So today I pushed through the “cringy” part of talking to the camera in public. Pushed through the positioning and repositioning of my phone on my tripod. And ultimately pushed through to my next milestone in my business.

And it was uncomfortable…and I honestly didn’t want to do it…however…how else do you build muscle??

And I’m so excited to welcome Retired Student-Athlete🎓🏀🙏🏽 and Lex Totten to my team !!!!!!!!!!!!! These ladies have worked alongside and now will handle events on their own and I’m so thankful for the support in this new space and growth of Alana | Signature Scent Designer
