Week 1: The Thought

🧠 One thought can change what happens next.

🥋 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗧𝗛 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦𝗘𝗧 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟭 — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁

Eli had practiced his presentation for days. He knew his material.
But one thought kept repeating: “I'm going to mess this up.”
Standing in front of the class, Eli finally caught himself.
That wasn't a fact. It was just a thought.

So he replaced it with something he knew was true:
“I practiced this. I know what I'm talking about. Just start.”

His presentation wasn't perfect—but he kept going.

⭐ 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Not every thought deserves to be believed. We can challenge thoughts that hold us back and choose ones that help us move forward.

A growth mindset doesn't mean believing everything will be easy.

💥 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲.

🥋 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟰 — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲

The students had spent weeks creating a large art project for their school hallway.

Everyone contributed something different.

Some painted.
Some created the lettering.
Others worked on the smaller details.

Then, on the morning the project was supposed to be displayed, they discovered that part of it had been damaged.

Everyone was frustrated.

But instead of giving up or waiting for someone else to fix it, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸—t𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

One student gathered the paint. Another found brushes. Someone sketched the damaged section.

One held the ladder while another painted. Someone mixed colors. Others stepped back to see the bigger picture and offered suggestions.

No single student could have fixed everything alone.

By lunchtime, the project was repaired.

And when they stepped back, they realized something surprising:

𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲.

The challenge had forced them to communicate, trust one another, and combine their individual strengths.

They had started as individual students working on individual pieces.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺.

Throughout the year, they've learned that Consistency helps us keep showing up. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 helps us recover when things go wrong. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 helps us change our approach.

And now Connection teaches us what can happen when we bring those strengths together with other people.

⭐ 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Connection allows us to combine our strengths and accomplish things we could never do alone.

💛 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Children need opportunities to discover that they don't have to be good at everything themselves. Learning to communicate, trust others, contribute their strengths, and accept help builds teamwork—and genuine leadership.

💥 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Every Saturday, Marcus went to the park to practice basketball.

Headphones in.
Music on.
Focused on himself.

He had seen the older man sitting on a nearby bench many times, but he'd never really noticed him.

Then one morning, Marcus's basketball rolled toward the bench. The man stopped it and tossed it back.

A simple "𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂" turned into a conversation.

Marcus took off his headphones and discovered the man had played basketball when he was younger. He had coached his son's team for years and still loved the game.

Soon, stopping by the bench became part of Marcus's Saturday routine.

They talked about basketball.
They shared stories.
The older man offered advice.

And Marcus eventually realized something:

He had spent a lot of time 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

Earlier this year, Marcus learned about presence. Now he understood another reason it mattered.

⭐ 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Connection begins when we put aside distractions and make room for the people around us.

💛 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Children are growing up in a world competing constantly for their attention. Teaching them to look up, listen, and engage with the people around them helps develop communication skills, empathy, and meaningful relationships.

At 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆, students don't disappear behind a screen. They train face-to-face. They work with partners. They listen to instructors. They encourage teammates. And they learn how to be fully present with other people.

For years, Emma and Sophie were best friends.

They sat together at lunch, shared inside jokes, and spent almost every weekend together. Emma assumed their friendship would always look the same.

Then Sophie began changing.

New activities. New interests. New friends.

Emma took it personally. She wondered if Sophie had found "better" friends and began pulling away before Sophie could hurt her.

Then Emma found an old picture of the two of them.

They looked so different that she laughed—and then realized something important:

So Emma stopped trying to make their friendship look like it used to. She became interested in the person Sophie was becoming while sharing more of who she was becoming too.

Their friendship changed.

⭐ 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Connection doesn't require people to be the same. It requires understanding, acceptance, and room to grow.

💛 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: As children grow, their friendships will naturally evolve. Teaching them that differences don't automatically mean rejection can help them develop the confidence, empathy, and communication skills needed for healthier relationships.

At 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆, students train alongside people with different personalities, abilities, ages, backgrounds, and goals. They learn that being part of a team doesn't mean everyone has to be the same.

When Lily started martial arts, she was focused on her own journey.

Learn the techniques.
Earn the next belt.
Become a Black Belt.

Then one afternoon, her instructor paired her with a younger student who was struggling with a basic combination.

Lily was disappointed. She wanted to train with someone more advanced.

But when she noticed her partner becoming frustrated and embarrassed, something changed.

Instead of rushing through the drill, Lily slowed down.

She encouraged him.

They practiced together—again and again.

Finally, he got it.

His face lit up.

And unexpectedly, Lily felt just as proud of his success as she normally felt about her own.

Last month, Lily learned that purpose is about becoming the best version of yourself.

Now she discovered something more:
