I have been actively working (or volunteering) in libraries since 1997 when I got my first library job at Azusa Pacific Universityβs library as a student worker. I fell in love with library work immediately. Soon, I discovered that the best books to work with are children's books and the best people to work with are parents, teachers, and kids themselves! After graduation, I ended up working in a K-8 library at the Tehama County Department of Education, working with teachers and librarians all over the county and with literacy groups & programs like the Tehama County Reading Council, various early childhood programs, and First5 Tehama. When I left that position (to stay home and help my family...one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make), I immediately began volunteering at the Tehama County Public Library....I couldn't stay away from books for long! While working with kids and teachers, I discovered that one of my favorite book publishers was Usborne Books from the UK. I wanted to purchase some books for my then 14-month-old daughter and discovered that they were no longer available from Amazon. I soon found out that I could host a home show with Usborne Books & More and get those books for FREE! But, since there were no active consultants in my area, I decided to sign up and become an Usborne Books & More Educational Consultant myself. I enjoy matching kids to books they love and helping parents and teachers find the resources they need to foster a love of reading.
