Update: this is some of the most backwoods bu****it repairs I’ve ever seen it’s to the point that it’s ridiculous and now I have to replace major components like the entire Leadscrew on the crossfeed.  they say don’t talk bad about dead people, but Curt you screwed me over hard on this one. 
My lathe broke last week, I figured it would be a quick fix. It was the same one that broke a while ago, and I had fixed it without realizing the real damage that was done. Before I bought the thing, the previous owner had broken the Gibb on the Cross feed instead of replacing it, he drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the slide and locked the Gibb in place, so earlier this year it bound up on me and caused some damage I replaced the parts I thought were the issue and had been using it for a while since, and it acted up again and bound up so I started digging deeper into it and what I found was the broken Gibb in the set screw so a bunch of money later and now seven days of not having this Lathe, I think I’m on the right path to getting it fixed, but fitting a Gibb is not fast. You would have thought a career machinist and barrel maker wouldn’t sell something like this without telling you what was wrong. Wish I could tell him how messed up that is. Well back to repairing my lathe.
