Past Resident Spotlight | Megan Bogonovich (RLCC 2016 STR) Megan Bogonovich

Megan received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), her MFA in Ceramics from University of Montana, and is currently based in Norwich, VT.

“Small and floral. The scale is a commitment to the decorative placement of ceramic objects in our interiors. Pottery and figurines. Treasuring home-made, folksy, the theme gives a noun type landing point, but allows for fantasy and formal compositional problem solving. With an eye to the boldness over the prettiness of nature. An overgrown natural unpredictable beast mashed into a formal English garden. A Pierre Bonnard and Tony Smith lovechild.”

October FEATURED ARTIST

Our current Featured Artist is Samuel Johnson. Sam is an American potter known for his unique, functional ceramics, often made through a traditional wood-firing process. His pieces reflect a fascination with the interplay between order and organic irregularity, resulting in surfaces marked by natural variations and dark, shadowy textures.

“I wasn’t initially drawn toward making unglazed utilitarian pottery, but over time, I began to see this as a way to evoke a sense of stillness and mystery in my work. My aim is to make useful pots that offer little in the way of ornamentation. Rather, I want them to be cultural touchstones; objects of contemplation as well as tools for domestic life.” -Samuel Johnson

Join us for a reception with the artist on Friday, October 16th from 5-7pm MT.

New Exhibition

FINDING THE GROUND, October 2-31, 2026

Finding the Ground is a solo exhibition of new work by Jane Shellenbarger. The idea of “Finding the ground” recognizes the need for artist to search for the why within the work in order to sustain a long inquiry in the making process. This questioning fosters both growth and genuine curiosity, and requires a pattern of examination and recalibration.

Of this work, Jane says, “My work explores the tipping point between elegant and awkward, crude materiality and refined beauty within historical forms. The familiar object becomes the artifact, speaking of multiple histories and the nuanced and complex relationship we have with objects in our everyday lives… “
