This game was first introduced in 1940, and this is a 1942 edition. It was a massive success so the company went on to print dozens of editions throughout the 1940's. Treasure Hunt is a fast-paced, hectic word-matching party game for 2 to 16 players. It was produced by the Cadaco-Ellis Company in Chicago, Illinois. This game is in very good vintage condition, and all the pieces appear to still be there.

For Sale: Antique Puzzle-Peg Solitaire Game (ca 1920's)

This solitaire jumping game was produced by the Lubbers & Bell Manufacturing Company of Clinton, Iowa. The game is played similarly to modern peg-solitaire games. This specific edition features the iconic black owl holding a peg on a crescent moon background. It dates to the 1920's. The game appears to be all there and the box is in good antique condition. The box is missing some paper and has wear, but it is intact. The wear it has is definitely from age and use.

This is a miniature Toby jug creamer (or character jug). It was modeled in the likeness of a Colonial-era gentleman, and is often identified by collectors as Benjamin Franklin. It is a mid-century figure, and they were mass-produced in Japan for the export giftware market. They are made of hand-painted ceramic. It dates to the 1940's to 1960's, and it is stamped "Japan" on the bottom. It is in very good vintage condition with no chips or hairlines. It measures 3 inches tall.

For Sale: Antique Merchant Advertising Plate Boonesboro Missouri

The is a beautiful example of an early 20-century advertising plate. These plates were custom-made for small businesses across the country. This one reads "Ligget & Swearinger, Dealers in General Merchandise, Boonesboro, Mo." Boonesboro is an old historic settlement located in Howard County, Missouri embedded within the historic "Boon's Lick" region. The plate features a classic scalloped, ruffled edge with a shaded peach-to-cream border accented by delicate gold-stamped scroll work. The center features a transfer ware floral design of roses. This specific style of porcelain was frequently imported from German or Austrian potteries, and then stamped locally. This plate dates to the early 1900's approximately 1900-1915. It is in very good antique condition with no chips or hairlines. It is about 7 inches in diameter.

For Sale: 1913 Advertising Calendar Plate Sanger, California

This is a highly popular type of promotional giveaway used by American merchants in the early 20th century. The plate features the text "Compliments of A. F. Giddings, Plumbing and Tinning Sanger, California". In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, "tinning" referred to the work of a tinsmith. This plate has a scene which depicts a classic, pastoral rural farming scene. These calendar plates were a major advertising trend from roughly 1906 until 1929. The outer edge is finished with a thin, scalloped gold gilt rim, adding an upscale touch to the promotional piece. This plate is in very good antique condition with no chips or hairlines. It measures 7 3/4 inches in diameter.

This antique calendar plate is a piece of American merchandising history. It was custom-ordered for W.M. Doty Hardware & Crockery, a historic merchant local to Biggs, California. These Panama Canal themed calendar plates were immensely popular promotional giveaways from roughly 1906 through the 1920's. Small-town businesses like this one, would purchase these generic design blanks from major pottery manufacturing hubs. The potters would custom-stamp the merchant's name and location on the piece, creating a useful New Year's souvenir for local patrons. This calendar plate is in good condition, but does have a hairline that runs from the outside edge to the middle. Otherwise it is in great condition. It measures 7 1/4 inches in diameter.

For Sale: Vintage Die-Cut Paperboard/Cardboard Stand-Up Farm Animals (ca 1930's - 1940's)

These stand-up farm animals were probably produced by the Whitman Publishing Company during the late 1930's through the 1940's. The figures feature full-color lithographed paper applied to a thick, sturdy cardboard backing. They slide into a simple slotted wooden block base so they can stand upright. Each animal features a detailed description on the back of the breed's characteristics, origins and farming facts. The condition of these are very good with some slight wear on the edges, and the ram has a scratch. Overall these stand-up animals are really nice. They range in size from 4" x 6" to 5 3/4"x 3".
