20 Years. 20 Weeks. 20 Stories. ❤️
Celebrating 20 years of Francis Court and the lives changed along the way.
“I felt like I was nothing. I felt worthless. Drugs helped me not feel, and after all the pain I was going through, not feeling seemed like the best option.”
After losing my mother, I fell even deeper into depression and addiction. My wake-up call came when my four children were removed from my care and placed in foster care for their safety. Losing them broke me, but it also made me realize that I had to fight for my life and my family.
My husband and I entered a recovery program and worked hard to overcome our addictions. When it was time to leave treatment, we had nowhere to go and no home where we could bring our family back together. FaithWorks gave us that opportunity when we were accepted into Francis Court.
Having a safe and stable home allowed us to begin rebuilding our family. My husband found full-time work with a roofing company, and I eventually returned to work as well. Learning to parent while staying clean and sober was not easy. Raising teenage daughters came with challenges, and the damage caused by our past made some seasons even harder.
My FaithWorks case manager never gave up on me. I attended parenting classes focused on raising teenagers and received one-on-one coaching. The staff helped me learn how to face difficult emotions, parent my children, and handle the waves of life without returning to drugs. They reminded me to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when I felt like giving up.
Francis Court gave us much more than housing. It gave us stability, accountability, support, and people who believed our family could heal. FaithWorks helped us become the parents and people we are today.
Now, I am a manager at Walmart, and our family owns our own home. When I look back at the woman who once believed she was worthless, I hardly recognize her. Today, I know my value. I know how far we have come, and I know we did not get here alone.
FaithWorks and Francis Court helped us turn our greatest pain into a new beginning. They gave our family the space, support, and love we needed to rebuild our lives, and we will always be grateful.”
