CalFlowers Wow. What a full-circle moment.

Months ago, I was asked to speak for 15 minutes at one of my absolute dream locations, The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, in front of the flower industry at CalFlowers Fun ’N Sun.

And yesterday, I actually did it.

This event brings together the entire flower world: growers, farms, wholesalers, florists, manufacturers, suppliers, business owners and so many of the people behind the flowers we work with every single day.

Years ago, I remember attending this event at the Hotel del Coronado and being completely mesmerized by it all. I walked around looking at the flowers, meeting people and taking in this incredible industry.

And this year, I was standing on the stage.

I got to share my personal journey with flowers, what I believe flowers do for people, and why after all these years I still believe so deeply in the power of what we do.

I was SO nervous.

It’s one thing to be a florist working behind the scenes. It’s another thing to stand in front of your own industry and share your heart.

But I did it.

And one of my favorite parts was simply meeting people. Saying hello. Talking with growers and business owners. Meeting the people behind companies and flowers I’ve known and worked with for years. Sitting together at beautiful dinners, learning, laughing and celebrating this industry.

A very special thank you to my friend Lane and to Mone for helping make this opportunity happen. I’m incredibly grateful you believed I had something worth sharing.

Flowers have taken me to some pretty extraordinary places.

And yesterday I had one of those moments where I looked around and thought:

Oh, the places you’ll go when you keep following the flowers.

What an honor.

What a beautiful industry to be part of.

And what a reminder to keep showing up, even when you’re nervous.

Well… now that everything is over, I can finally share what I got to do today.

Never in a million years did I think I’d be able to say this…

Magical Blooms had the honor of creating the flowers for the President of the United States during his visit to Los Angeles.

No matter your political views, as a florist this was an incredible professional milestone. Out of all the florists in Los Angeles, we received the call, and that is something I’m truly proud of.

From our headquarters in Redondo Beach, our team designed elegant white and gold florals for the event. It was one of those moments where you stop, smile, and think…

“I just did flowers for the President.”

After 31 years in this industry, I’m still grateful for opportunities that remind me why I love what I do.
