Mass produced furnishings have no soul, substance or story. On the other end of the spectrum the antiques and art world has a reputation for being lofty and pretentious, an image that has run aground with consumers. As more people yearn to do new, unexpected and creative things with well-made vintage items - choosing possessions that have a backstory and making them their own, P2R ~ Picking 2 Repu
rpose was born.
“People love a story," says Craig Sifter ~ P2R Chief Repurposing Officer & Founder. "They like to know the history of an item, its life, it’s substance.”
Thus the mission of P2R became clear -
The most effective form of creativity happens when you reimagine old items in a new context. An analogy Craig likes to use that helps describe the diversity of repurposed items is to picture the items as a vast selection of books held in place by two bookends. At one end there’s the recycled bookend. That’s where an item is completely remade into a brand new product. At the other end is the restoration bookend, where an item is minimally altered and maintains its originally intended use. The two bookends are the extremes - not what he considers true repurposing. …But in between there’s a spectrum of books each one representing different relics/junk that make up the repurposing realm. Moving across this spectrum some of the repurposed relics include juried junk, rusty metal, industrial items, steampunk, salvaged architectural artifacts, trade related items, vintage finds and unique antiques. Over the past 6 years Craig has been moving Tiffany of Redstone ~ TOR in this direction. Proving out the acceptability of repurposing with his TOR clients by offering repurposed relics that include - architectural artifacts; industrial and trade related items some of which include woodworker’s workbenches, printers’ cabinets and mining carts; and of course good old rusty metal. Now don’t worry Craig assures that the name of the store will remain the same, he will just be doing more new ventures under the P2R name.
“What makes repurposing so exciting is you’re always discovering old items to add to the repurposing realm. You're Picking 2 Repurpose and also Repurposing 2 Pick - a virtuous cycle,” Stifter said. The word is now out - Tiffany of Redstone is your repurposing paradise - THE destination for a junk jaunt. “Not only do we have finished repurposed items, but we also have a vast offering of relics and material just waiting for your spark of repurposing creativity,” Stifter said. The TOR | P2R team invites you to stop by for an experiential offering of all types Repurposed Relics and unique Vintage Colorado items. “We hope to inspire your creative purpose.
