One of the great things about the new expanded bookstore is that I can expand some of our existing sections that had very limited space before. One section that we really expanded is the nature/outdoor activity section. It has over twice as much room as it had before so we can both order new inventory and also display our existing inventory better.

When I taught Environmental Science I had a wide variety of field guides and I quickly found out which ones my students preferred. When I became a bookstore owner I still wanted to help people to explore outdoors and I found a supplier that carried all my students favorite field guides. That supplier carries not only Minnesota/Midwest field guilds but also other books specific to our state. The five books shown in the post were just released for sale this week and are perfect for people interested in our area.

Fun Fact: Ohiyesa/Dr Charles Eastman actually grew up in Morton and there is a historical plaque about him in Morton.

Chapter Two Bookstore is more than just a book store!!! Now we have purses, wallets and back packs!!! It's a new supplier so I did a small order to check out the quality and I was pretty impressed. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing another order soon.

The have a wide variety of wallets and small clutch purses with classic book covers. I did a couple of generic book covers to start ... Do you have any personal favorites that you would like to see in stock?

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but the bookstore has been keeping me hopping and it feels like I'm a bit beh...

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but the bookstore has been keeping me hopping and it feels like I'm a bit behind on everything!

First ... Thank you so much to everyone who came in for Independent Bookstore Day last Saturday!!! It was a busy, fun day!!!

Second ... These are the new books that came in last Friday. This selection actually had me a bit impressed with my book buying skills! Anyway, there are more books coming in later today so I figured I'd better get the pictures of these beauties posted.

Last ... but maybe most important ... I have been working really hard on the annex and it is getting SOOOOOO close. I think we will start moving inventory in a week or so, so the bookstore might be a bit chaotic for a while (Think back to when they remodeled our Walmart but stayed open. Yah, a bit like that.) It's exciting but exhausting and sometimes I fall behind on my daily task list ...

Saturday (April 25) is Independent Bookstore Day!!!!!

We will be celebrating by handing out the new 2026 Independent Bookstore Maps. We will also be giving away free books to every child that comes in the store and we have two great gift baskets that everyone can register for.
