🍭Candy Holidays.....😟 So exciting for the kids, a challenge for parents and teachers.
Have you ever noticed that your kids are quite wound up, hyper and even act out a bit during the "candy holiday"?
Do you write it off to sugar? Maybe sugar is a part of it but more than likely it is the artificial dyes the food industry uses. (they are cheaper than natural)
If you have EVER felt like a switch was flipped on your child's behavior you may want to take note of what they have eaten. I am guessing teachers are very happy that Valentines Day is on a Friday! They won't have your kids while they are on their biggest high.
After sorting through B's valentine candy, I decided to write dumdum - because that was one candy that I needed to pull out - due to dyes.
Here is our conversation;
Me; "Why do you put artificial colors in your products? Many kids have adverse reactions to dyes. Please consider using natural dyes. I can not purchase your products and also I discourage our parents from purchasing products with artificial dyes"
The response I received, notice she wouldn't use the word dye but chose "color" - 🤔;
"Darla, Thank you for your comments about artificial colors.
Although we receive comments from parents concerning artificial colors we also receive many comments from consumers who are allergic to fruits and vegetables which are the source of natural colors.
We do manufacture a line of SweetNature candy canes which do not contain artificial colors.
Maybe in the near future we will develop a lollipop using the same natural colors giving our customers a choice.
Sincerely,

Here is my response; "WOW! This is a shock to me! I am very surprised that you say this. In all honesty, I believe it a copout.
So, you are saying that because there are a small percentage of children who are allergic to some fruits and vegetables, it is better to give them artificial ingredients….?
I am no fool.
We have watched our children personalities change after consuming artificial colors. Before realizing the connection, we were believing they had behavioral issues…. Imagine the number of children who are labeled as hyper, inattentive, disruptive which then translates to a “I’m a bad kid” when it isn’t their fault! It is the food industries fault.
How can a child grow up with a strong self esteem when they feel they are “a bad kid” and they can’t help it. These dyes are like giving them a drug! You, obviously have no idea! (which I doubt)
My daughter is a teacher and she gets very anxious and stressed as “candy holidays” approach. The change in the children’s behavior is challenging to say the least.
I can’t believe that your reason is there there are consumers who are allergic to fruits and vegetables….. WOW! That was my response!
Maybe you should run an experiment on your own children or grandchildren to see the difference.

If you have read this to this point, one more comment....
I am guessing teachers are very happy that Valentines Day is on a Friday! They won't have your kids while they are on their biggest high. Maybe all candy holidays should be on a Friday...
