👉It’s not quite thrift- but a solid and ever rotating curated selection of hiking, backpacking, climbing, mtn biking, skiing and paddling gear… and “mountain fashion” from high quality brands at a fraction of retail prices.

We’re 100% consignment based and operate on a seasonal schedule (Summer from April-Aug/Winter from Oct-Feb).

👀 Peep my traveling grapefruit which in hindsight was not the best backpacking addition.

For this trip I did buckwheat w/ h**p hearts, flaxseeds, freeze dried raspberries for 2 breakfasts, ramen and couscous as my dinners, baby carrots as some fresh veg, tuna, cashews, beef sticks for proteins, instant coffee, cosmic brownies, a couple bars… and packed 2 whole peaches and a grapefruit 🤷‍♀️ total cost for food ~$20?

Reminder! As you’re prepping/packing your bear can- remember that you will be eating night 1 dinner and day 1 snacks! It’s doesn’t have to fit in the canister when you leave the trailhead. I was able to get away with using our smallest bear can rental size- the BV 425

🗓️ Bear can rentals do BOOK OUT ‼️ Plan ahead and get into our calendar, do not cross your fingers and show up the day of your trip with the expectation of snagging one 🙈.

Price to rent: $3/day, $15/week, $35/month. Save the bears!

I always get a little conflicted during Burning Man season...

I'm happy folks are seeking out more sustainable options than amazon or Walmart - especially when there is a chance, depending on weather that the item is ultimately landfill bound after a week of extreme conditions.

But, when gear sells to go out to the playa, it means that the affordable opportunity for seasons of use with a local adventurer is taken away, for a singular event. Especially when it's a lightweight backpacking tent, a nice chair or technical sleeping bag, these are the more in demand, quality pieces of gear that our locals are seeking out.

In either case, all camping gear is in high demand right now. Camp cots, tents of all sizes, camp chairs, tarps, tables, etc - for both communities. If you have camp gear to rehome - the chances of it moving in August are exceptionally HIGH, it's when we turnover the most camping inventory! Give your old gear a new adventure and turn em into Gear Hut dollars (or real dollars).

PS: post BM, we do NOT accept anything with playa dust! Some goods are salvageable - but we do not clean goods! All items brought in for consignment must be in "ready to shelf" condition.

🧵 Day off spent keeping quality goods in circulation! Yes, sometimes we’ll take quality items missing a button or with a patchable hole (and price them accordingly).

Why? Because YOU can spend 15 minutes using your 8th grade home-economics skills to get these items back into action and feel super proud for handling something on your own and scoring an extra low deal bc you had to put in a teensy bit of work.

This was a pair of fresh Patagonia shorts and a new w tags pair of Black Diamond shorts! Note- you can take advantage of Patagonias repair warrantee and drop items off at their outlet- but, for small fixes like this, we believe in ya! 🪡

Fix it! Don’t ditch it to the landfill! Also. Pardon my exceptionally straight concentration face throughout this video 🙈.

Camping staple... the 1 lb propane canister. BUT the ugly truth is that we all have a hoard of dark green empties rolling around in the trunk because we care about the earth and don't know how to get rid of them.

A better alternative: Little Kamper Exchange Program! (We're an official retailer).

How it works 👉 You invest in your first one for $21.99, then every time you exchange/swap out an empty for a full one, its $11.99. We ship out all the empties to Little Kamper, they refill them and restock us with a new box of full ones.

Yes. Yes. It's a bit more expensive. But the real truth - there are costs to sustainability... and for the sanity of not owning a hoard of empties. You CAN use store credit to make the investment/swap. You CAN justify it because you just scored a $65 tech tee for $12.

‼ NOTE: We do NOT take empty Colemans! Most National Parks will have propane collection stations, or recycle them for $5 at HERO Environmental on Mill St. (Just saying - they retail for $7 plus $5 to recycle and you're at the same cost as our swap outs).
