NEW OWNERSHIP, NAME AND RENOVATION PLANS FOR SHOPPING CENTER ON PROMINENT RENO RETAIL CORNER
RENO, Nev. (January 15, 2015) – One of Reno’s most prominent corners and core retail areas will soon receive a facelift and major upgrades. The former Meadowood Square shopping center on the corner of Neil Road and South Virginia Street was recently purchased by a northern Nevada-based affiliate of K Corporation, who has big plans for the centrally located, high-visibility and well-known complex. Longtime tenants have populated the center now known as The Crossing at Meadowood Square, including Reno’s only after-hours Animal Emergency Center and largest Goodwill store. Other tenants include FedEx Office Print and Ship Center, Subway, Blind Onion Pizza & Pub, Sav-On Green Cleaners, The Reno Gold Exchange, Puppies Plus, Nevada Home Fitness, Still Smokin’ LLC, Taco Bell, 4 the People Documentation Preparation and the new Bear Bums Diapering Service. With plans for a significant investment this spring to improve the center with a new, contemporary façade and signage, more tenants are expected. “We’re seeking synergistic retailers that are interested in this high traffic location,” states K Corporation President James Kaplan. “We recognized the potential of this shopping complex that has long been a Reno retail landmark, and that the visibility and location hadn’t been maximized.”
Since purchasing The Crossing in late summer of 2014, K Corporation has started the improvements to the landscaping and the planning of the new building design to increase the shopping center’s prominence from the main traffic thoroughfares that surround the center, including Highway 395, the Neil Road exit and South Virginia Street.
