Join Ocean Kaowili—actor in "Chief of War", musician, and cultural practitioner— for an ʻukulele workshop rooted in the legacy of Eddie Kamae and the great musicians who shaped Hawaiian music.

Kumu Ocean shares lessons passed down through generations — stories, technique, and a deeper understanding of how the ʻukulele carries the voice of the Hawaiian people.

This class offers two workshop times.
🗓 Saturday, September 12th
⏰ 9 AM - 11:30 AM OR 1 PM - 3:30 PM
📍 Seattle Center

Bring your ʻukulele. Open to players with a good understanding of basic chords and strumming patterns.

Then, HEAR OCEAN LIVE! Sunday, September 13th, he'll hit the stage as a special guest with our headliner! All ages welcome.

Woke up this morning holding so much gratitude for the kākoʻo, kōkua, manaʻo, and aloha of our Wakinekona kaiaulu. We are so incredibly grateful and blessed that we get to be a part of an encouraging vendor ‘ohana, who cheer each other on and provide a safe landing for kānaka and kamaʻāina in Washington to recharge/ground themselves in our native/local culture.

From the food 🍛to the music 🎵 the merch 🛍️ … and even deeper, the thoughtfulness of benches for people to take a break on, tables and chairs so people could properly eat and enjoy, providing tent/shade to a vendor who didn’t bring one, sharing tent weights with your neighbor who forgot hers (it’s us, we forgot this time 😅), and watching out for keiki and kūpuna even if you didn’t personally know them — ALL OF THIS is what made the SUMMAH TIME MĀKEKE exceptionally special ✨ ✨ ✨

Full transparency, summer 2026 left us broken 💔💔💔 and running on empty; but, walking away from yesterday’s event gave us the bear hug of comfort, hope, and reassurance we desperately needed. And today we feel like, for once, everything is gonna be okay. Mahalo mahalo mahalo to Renton and everyone who contributed to yesterday. It’s helping us put the pieces back together ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

📣 CHEEHOOOO! We had the best time out in Georgetown Seattle today! The sun was shining ☀️ the weather was absolutely perfect 💯 the food was ‘ono 🍱 the shopping was fire 🛍️ the music was hitting 🎵 and the vibes was ALL ALOHA ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Big time mahalos to and all our vendor ‘ohana for making this LEI DAY an epiccccc one 💣 This one was a stunnah 😎 Can’t wait for the next one!
