Our Trail of Treasures™ Express is pulling into Republican City, and this stop comes with a pretty spectacular view.

Harlan County Lake is one of Nebraska’s largest lakes and a favorite destination for fishing, wildlife watching, hiking, boating, picnicking, and simply enjoying the wide-open scenery of the Republican River Valley.

It’s also part of a much bigger regional story. The reservoir and dam were developed in response to the devastating flooding that once swept through communities along the Republican River.

So if your treasure-hunting crew needs a scenic break between sales, this is a pretty good place to stretch your legs and take in the view.
