We’re convinced lisianthus were designed to inspire romantic fairytales. Ruffled rose-like petals in dreamy pastel colors. These blooms are scent free, making them a great cut flower choice for those with more sensitive noses. There aren’t very many blooms that last two weeks in a vase, but lissies will typically keep for 10-14 days. This alone makes lisianthus a crowd favorite around here!

Growing dahlias can take quite a bit of patience. If growing from tubers, it takes roughly 90 days from when you plant to seeing first blooms. That being said, witnessing this field of green transform into a rainbow of color has always been worth the wait. We will be soaking in this view all summer long!

After a though week in Michigan — I'm thankful for Costco pools with happy kids, WORLD CUP HALF TIME SHOWS 😋 with Justin !, clean(er) air, homegrown lettuce, babies with tiny, pudgy hands and DAHLIAS.

The dahlia patch is finally bursting into bloom.

At the same time, Michigan has some of the worst air quality on the planet today, and we’re in the middle of the largest Cyclospora outbreak the U.S. has ever recorded.

I’m working at Urgent Care today, and I have a feeling my day will be split between respiratory complaints from the smoke and Cyclospora-related GI illness. What a week.

Because of the air quality, our farm stand will be closed today. Thursdays are usually one of our biggest sales days, so this is a tough decision, but I don’t want customers standing outside shopping, and I don’t want my family and farm crew breathing this air while making bouquets.

The good news is that Harding’s in Richland is fully stocked with fresh flowers from our farm. We delivered a large load, and there are several new options this week that I think you’ll love. If you’re already out running errands, stop in there and pick one up.

Stay safe, take care of your lungs, wash your produce well, and hopefully we’ll be back at the stand tomorrow. 🌸
