Merchant's Walk Shopping Center has grown by one more restaurant! Very excited to share that Yummy Red Bowl: Mongolian Stir Fry & Sushi https://www.yummyredbowl.com/ is finally opened! They have a Father's Day Gift Card giveaway event from $5-$100 for purchases over $20 until June 20th.

A lot of our staff have visited and it is delicious. It provides a much needed lunch option for employees and is very quick to serve. We can not express how exciting it is to have a fresh food option that we can walk to in a quiet sit down atmosphere or you can easily take your food to go.

Please share this post as this is another locally owned business and it is very nice inside as well as worthy of your time, attention, and money. For lunch, about $15~ a person with leftovers to spare.

What’s this? A sneak peek at our brand new Boutique Price Checker Web App? 👀

This is something I (Andrew) started building just last week as a replacement for our staff boutique management sheet, but honestly, it’s something I’ve thought for years would make life easier for both customers and staff.

Here’s how it works:

When you’re browsing the boutique, just scan a nearby QR code to bring up the app on any mobile web browser, search the case or wall section you’re looking at, and quickly see the item’s price along with helpful details like size and other important info.

But here’s the part I’m really excited about and feel is a game changer for regulars.

Save the link and check it anytime to browse new boutique arrivals from the past few weeks, complete with a photo and pricing, even while at home. See everything with a discount. See everything in a category of your interest. On our end, staff can monitor ageing items better and apply discounts more readily that only are seen on the app instead of a physical sticker.

A quick note: this is not a web store. There’s no login, no cart, and no online checkout.

It’s simply a smarter way to browse our boutique inventory both mobile or on a desktop. When you find something you want, just let a staff member know and purchase it at the register.

My hope is to launch this soon in a couple weeks once we completely check over the boutique and populated all the images and information to ensure accuracy from the start.

Hiya folks, Andrew here, I'm holding a special sale today from 8am-4pm during Odd Balls flea market event to liquidate our large items and drum up some extra sales due to a major emergency surgery required for our cat Gizmo. This sale/room is something I set up in the last 24 hours, so items will be being moved into the sale area as the day goes on.

The sale is out front and located in our Room of Requirement aka the Front Office to the right of Smalls. Many new items, not priced, and all items even with a price tag are negotiable in this large item sale. Cash only, final sale.

If you've read our mission statement, a two month road trip with our two cats and two dogs back in 2019 was really the seed that was planted for the idea for Smalls. Gizmo our remaining cat from the original gang back then has been fighting a mysterious cancer growth that claimed an eye and grew again in mere weeks to the size of a golf ball. He underwent a risky final surgery yesterday as our last possible choice. He survived the surgery and I hope to pick him up at the end of this sale after his post surgery recovery and to bring him home for palliative care.

In his prime Gizmo was once photographed for a PetSafe pet harness right here in Glen Allen and he was printed on a marketing banner 20' tall!

During the road trip he explored places in California's Jalama Beach, Yosemite, Monterey and all over the West Coast.

It’s May and we’ve got some exciting updates!

Clothing is now part of our color tag cycle!
(Boutique clothing will remain white-tagged while we continue to price those unique, higher-end pieces individually.)

Media Update (DVDs/CDs/Blu-rays):
This section hasn’t been refreshed in over a year, we simply can’t source it like we used to. What’s left is now on clearance, so stop in while it lasts!

Big Operations Upgrade:
Our new full-time team members have been hard at work. We’ve doubled, nearly tripled, the speed at which items hit the floor, and we’ve lowered our starting prices.

We are also pulling items that have been passed up, way sooner to make way for the new items. So if you see, buy it! You don't if it will be there next time you visit. It's a smaller store and age of items is a major factor now.

This is a big step forward for Smalls, keeping shelves fresher, faster, and better stocked than ever. This is only possible with our foot traffic increasing, so keep on spreading the word and keep on giving us those five star reviews!
