Mare and Foal - this is my other quilt in the Quilters Affair teachers tent at . It felt very fitting to bring this pattern to Sisters. I custom quilted this to help make it pop, and I really loved how the different hair texture between the mare and foal turned out, especially the foals “monkey face” (which is when a foal is shedding out into adult hair and you see it starting at the eyes). Ironically we got to visit a family friend’s young foal while here who was at a perfectly timed monkey face. I also matched the binding, which was a nice touch since I didn’t feel like facing it. Legit Kits really shine in person - anytime you see them, you want to do that one next! This is no exception.

Bucket List .. quilt in the teachers tent at . I can’t even with how incredibly special this was. This is my 2023 Temperature quilt. It has a lot of meaning packed into it, from how I picked the pattern, how it developed over time, how I used inset circles I learned from June Jaeger for the months. Different backgrounds for Oregon and Virginia and the trip of moving. This may be my favorite quilt I’ve made. Thanks for letting me teach. It’s such an honor.

Quilters Affair days 4-5 // a 2 day class for Legit Kits. My students were absolutely fabulous and I unfortunately missed some of their pictures but I so enjoyed our time together. Seeing them tackle hard things was impressive 💪 This really is the best gig ever 🥰

I can’t think of a better quilt to mark this milestone than Riding for Freedom.

This quilt features a cowgirl racing the American flag around the rodeo arena—a moment full of energy, tradition, and pride. No matter what is happening in the world, we continue to have so many freedoms to be thankful for, and celebrating the Fourth of July is something I always look forward to.

One of my favorite parts of this quilt is that it all began with an incredible photograph by the talented Tracy Libby. Thank you, Tracy, for so generously allowing me to use your image as inspiration. Your photography captured the spirit of this moment so perfectly, and I’m grateful you trusted me to tell the story through fabric.

This quilt now has a sister! The original Riding for Freedom has found its next adventure as part of the Storytellers book, a fundraiser supporting the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, so of course I had to make another one for myself. I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye.

As I celebrate my 1,000th Instagram post, I’m also celebrating this amazing community. Thank you for following along through quilts, classes, patterns, road trips, late-night sewing sessions, and all the creative adventures in between. I truly appreciate every like, comment, message, and friendship that has come from sharing this little corner of my quilting world.
Happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙 Here’s to freedom, creativity, and many more quilts to come.

My newest quilt “2023 - A Year of Highs and Lows.” Made using Re and Mini Alphabet patterns. Too many details to list in this one, but it’ll be hanging at in the teachers tent (!!!!). Thanks to .a.vonada for binding, you’re a saint, and the kids did great hanging quilts too so we all celebrated at Casa del Barcos afterwards! 🥳

Evolution of a Quilt Artist is hanging now at Road 2 Virginia!! We are so excited for our 2nd year having this show in the east coast, and I got my act together to enter an exhibit. I’m thrilled to tell my story of getting to where I am at now in my “journey as an artist , and it’s inspiring to be hanging among so many gorgeous creations. If you get a chance, go see it live through Saturday in Richmond! Here is a short video of the 13 quilts hanging ❤️

See the post for Reed // Addie’s 4th grade teacher her is also a gem, and I am so grateful for her. I work hard on creating designs that fit their personalities, and I was very proud of how this turned out. It’s super fun to have the kids sign the back as well.

Every year May hits and it’s like a tornado. Or a hurricane. Maycember. Every parent knows what I’m talking about 🫠 This year, everything in me shut down as soon as my guild presidency ended at the end of March. I needed a big break from everything. I’m much better now, but learning how to leave space for Maycember is definitely in next years planning 😂 Reed’s 1st grade teacher is a gem, and he had an amazing year thanks to her. I can never tell them thank you enough. ❤️
