This snowy Japanese Woodblock was paired with a custom walnut frame stained with india ink. We left the walnut to shine through on the interior lip to highlight the subtle warm tones throughout the print.

We had the pleasure of restoring these beautiful tramp art frames for a client and we are so pleased with the outcome. ☺️

If you didn’t know, this style frame is made up of small intricately carved wood pieces from cigar boxes. It was very popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

We sourced high-end cedar cigar boxes to carve and replace the missing and damaged pieces, that we then coated with a toned shellac. ✨
