Thailand has temporarily frozen 166 data-center projects while the government develops new national rules covering electricity, water use, locations, safety and environmental impacts. The pause includes 49 projects already under construction and 117 awaiting approval. The government says the goal is not to stop data-center investment, but to make sure rapid expansion does not overwhelm local infrastructure or shift costs onto households.

The decision came shortly after an incident at a DAMAC data center in Bangkok, where an accidental fuel spill during backup-generator testing contaminated drainage inside the facility and a public drain. Authorities removed more than 32 cubic meters of contaminated wastewater and sediment and found the facility had been storing more than 200,000 liters of diesel without a license.

The Ava Board of Directors voted YES tonight to extend the Bike Electric program through December 2027! 🎉 This means another year of instant rebates for Alameda County residents, greater access and affordability for e-bikes, a continued flow of customers to local bike shops, and the extension of a program that has set the gold standard for effectively moving people towards cleaner transportation.

Thank you to the 600+ folks who signed our petition to support this extension, and to the dozens who submitted public comments sharing how their e-bike has transformed their lives. We're proud to partner with Ava and are grateful for their continued investment in getting more people on bikes!

And huge thanks to Berkeley Councilmember Igor Tregub for going a step beyond what staff recommended, amending the motion to increase the budget from $2 million to $3 million!
