This is Tallavert Turnage.
I'm reaching out today to share some exciting news. T.L. Productions is conducting a casting call, and is currently in production of a film project to create a biographical documentary entitled Churchill Record Shop -The Joe Turnage Story.

This is a compelling story about a remarkable individual who came from humble beginnings and changed the trajectory his entire family’s life through tireless determination, a strong commitment to entrepreneurship and faith in God.
This story details the journey of a black business man who created a retail record empire that had a massive impact in the Richmond community and the retail music business for four decades. Through his struggles of trials, tragedy and triumph, Joe Turnage has left a lasting legacy and a positive effect on the community.

This film will be the highlight of our family's life and legacy and will surely be treasured by the community for years to come.

I am inviting you to share your testimonial and your individual experiences on camera as they pertain to Joe Turnage and Churchill Record Shop. We are in the beginning stages of production. From the year 1958 to 1998 Churchill Record Shop under the sole proprietorship of Joseph C. Turnage, became Richmond's foremost retail music outlet and a pillar of the community. We are currently in production of creating a compelling film documentary of how this remarkable individual devoted his life to his business and the community it served. In an effort to create authentic historical content we are in search of people who may have any photos, posters, audio cassette recordings or video footage of the subject matter. This could also include any audio cassette recordings of radio advertisements from Richmond, Va radio stations WANT, WENZ,WKIE & Magic 99 FM. Your contributions will help tell this story from the perspective of the people in the community. You will be recognized as a historical contributor and added to the closing credits of this film. I truly want to thank everyone who has taken their time over the years to remember my father Joseph C. Turnage, also for sharing your kind words and personal experiences of how he positively impacted your lives. It's so amazing to hear about how he touched the lives of so many people in his community.

We (the Turnage family) are in communications with a local film production company to collaborate on creating a film documentary about the life and legacy of Joseph C. Turnage the amazing 40-year success in the music business and widespread impact he had in the retail record industry with one little store called Churchill Record Shop based in Richmond VA. We are compiling testimonials, photos, documents and other memorabilia as well as conducting interviews. We are looking for participants who are willing to share their story in writing on camera and digital audio format. If you are interested in sharing more about Joseph C. Turnage and your Churchill Record Shop and you feel you have something to contribute to the production of this forthcoming documentary, please reach out to me on this platform or via Facebook messenger.
