MEET ARIANNE | APEX PREDATOR

It’s probably time I officially introduced myself. 👋

I’m Arianne, one of the owners of Apex Predator and the person behind a lot of what you see here on social media.

First and foremost, I’m a woman of faith. God, my country, and my family are at the center of who I am. 🇺🇸 I’m a wife, a mom, a volleyball coach, a business owner and a die hard animal lover. If there’s an animal around, chances are I’m going to love it. 😂

And that last part might make what I’m about to say a little surprising…

I used to hate hunting.

I genuinely did. As an animal lover, I saw hunting as cruel, and for a long time I couldn’t understand how someone could love animals and also hunt them.

Then I started listening.

I listened to hunters talk about the animals they pursue, the respect they have for them, the time they spend outdoors, the conservation behind hunting, and what it means to provide food for their families. And slowly, my perspective changed.

Because the truth is I eat meat.

And once I started thinking more seriously about where that meat comes from, hunting began to look very different to me. An elk can spend its entire life roaming wild and free in the mountains, exactly where it belongs. And one successful harvest can put food on a family’s table for months.

That feels incredibly personal to me.

There was also a moment I’ll never forget. I stopped at a gas station on a 107° day and saw a semi full of pigs. The driver was spraying them down with water trying to keep them cool. As an animal lover, that one hit me hard. It made me think even more about the life behind the meat we pick up at the grocery store without ever really knowing where it came from.

In our family, we pray over our food. We thank God for providing it, and when that food comes from a hunt, we also recognize the animal that provided it.

My husband has always said, “We should earn what we eat.”

I understand that now in a way I didn’t before.

I’m still the woman who wants to rescue every animal she sees. 😂 But I’ve learned that being an animal lover and respecting ethical hunting don’t have to contradict one another. For me, hunting has become about gratitude, responsibility, providing for family, and having a much deeper connection to where our food comes from.

That perspective is also part of why being an owner of Apex Predator means so much to me.

We’re a young company with big goals, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’re building. From growing our brand and connecting with customers to seeing Apex products make their way onto store shelves, it’s pretty incredible watching something we’re passionate about become real.

And if you’ve ever sent Apex a DM, commented on a post, or shared your hunting story with us, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve talked to me. 😉

Thank you for being here, supporting our family and our company, and letting me be a small part of your hunts and your stories. We’re just getting started.

MEET TOM HORN 🇺🇸
Tom Horn is a co-owner of Apex Predator. Born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon, Tom describes himself as faithful, family-focused, and organized.

As a father and grandfather better known as “Pops”, Tom is most proud of his children and the family they have built. After losing his own father at 18, he developed a deep appreciation for time spent with loved ones. For Tom, hunting is about more than the pursuit of an animal. It creates shared experiences, strengthens relationships, and forms memories that can last for generations.

Tom grew up in a hunting family, but much of his development as a hunter came later through his friendship with Brad Tierney, who encouraged him and helped teach him many of the skills he uses today. His favorite style of hunting is the challenge of a spot and stalk backpack hunt.

His most meaningful hunting memory is helping his son harvest his first deer. During that evening hunt, they worked together as shooter and spotter, a natural extension of the teamwork they had already developed through his son’s pursuit of competitive shooting.

Tom believes hunting is a way to remain rugged and challenged in a world that often celebrates comfort. It has also given him a deep sense of gratitude, not only for a successful harvest, but for the land, wildlife, and natural environment that make the experience possible.

One of the most important lessons hunting has taught him is that pace is almost as important as accuracy. Whether in the field, in business, or in life, he believes preparation, patience, and dependability matter.

When he is not working or hunting, Tom enjoys spending time with his family, attending Bible study, reloading, and long-range shooting. His dream hunt is not defined by a particular place or animal. It is simply the opportunity to hunt alongside his grandsons.

Above all, Tom wants people to know that dependability is crucial—in both people and gear—and it is a value he brings to everything he does at Apex Predator.

Meet Our Founder: Scott Cannon

Built Out of Necessity

APEX Predator didn't start as a business plan. It started as a problem I couldn't buy my way out of.

I had just purchased a Seekins r***e chambered in 28 Nosler, and I wanted a spare magazine. I was one of the lucky ones — the factory magazine that came with my r***e ran flawlessly — but a three-round magazine only gets you so far, and I wanted more capacity. Simple enough, right? Except every time I went to order one, they were out of stock. After months of checking and coming up empty, I stopped waiting and decided to design my own.

I'd been working with engineering-grade 3D printing materials for years — fiber-reinforced composites that were starting to approach the properties of metal. I knew that with the right design and the right materials, I could build a magazine that wasn't just a stopgap, but genuinely better than what I couldn't buy.

It took six months of designing, printing, testing, and refining to get to a magazine I trusted. Then something unexpected happened.

From the Range to a Real Company

People at the range started noticing. On the r***e forums I was part of, members began asking if I could make one for them. Then another. Then another. It got to the point where I couldn't keep up with the messages, so I set up a website just to manage the orders. Friends and family who ran my magazines started asking, "Could you do this for my r***e? What about that one?" — and the design work branched out to other platforms.

Somewhere along the way, people who knew the industry pointed out that some of my design features and printing processes weren't just effective — they were unique. After a careful review, I was advised to pursue three separate patents. That's when it hit me: this wasn't a hobby anymore.

I'll be the first to admit that running a business isn't my strong suit — designing and innovating is. So I turned to Bryan, a longtime friend, and asked him to come in and build this into a real company. He handles the part of the process he genuinely enjoys, and I get to stay where I do my best work: at the drawing board, making magazines better.

The Man Behind the Magazines

By trade, I'm a laser and optical engineer. Over my career I've worked on everything from weapons systems and vision systems to space-deployed laser platforms and cosmetic lasers. Precision isn't a marketing word to me — it's been my day job for decades. That same engineering discipline goes into every magazine we make.

But the real reason APEX Predator exists is what happens outside the shop. I'm an avid hunter — coyotes are my favorite pursuit — and I live for time in the outdoors. Every product we build gets judged by the same standard I hold my own gear to: will it perform when it matters, in the field, in the cold, on the one shot that counts?

I live in Meridian, Idaho with my wife and our four kids. I'm passionate about my faith, my family, and my country, and I run this company the way I try to live — do the work right, stand behind what you make, and take care of the people who trust you.

That's how APEX Predator started: one out-of-stock magazine, one engineer who wouldn't take no for an answer, and a whole lot of people who believed in what we built.
