Tonight goes until 10 pm and tomorrow's schedule is 11 am until 11 pm. Visit and enjoy the booths, rides, food, music, shopping, cold drinks and $2 off coupons to most Main Street businesses. The weather has cooled and a near perfect late summer night is ahead for the festivities.

The rain departed just in time for the start of the big Catfish tournament this morning. The weigh in on the Rising Sun riverfront for both days starts at 4 pm. It was really cool to see all of the tournament boats ride off for the first of two days of big cat fishing action. Some of them were speeding directly to the dam and "lock-thru" to hunt for those monster cats heard about through folklore and legend. They start again tomorrow at 8 am. The smell and sounds of vintage, 2 cycle outboards makes me smile and reminisce.

Rising Sun has a wealth of boat ramp space, parking and lots of docking for boaters needs. Unlike other boat ramps (shame on you, Cincy Rec and Brookville Lake), these are all free launches. Two ramps with docks are on the Ohio River and a little west of town is the Arnold's Creek Launch. For our boating followers, are there channel markers to follow or do you just stay in the middle? Included below is a video of Arnold's Creek and a few photos of the Ohio River launches. From the river launches, it is an easy walk to Rising Sun Main Street dining options or the Paddy Wagon. Please share your local boating insight and info below. We will add more photos after the big fishing tournament on Sept. 12-13.

As a newcomer to Rising Sun, I enjoy the golf cart friendly vibe that the town offers. Even the gas-powered ones are easy on fuel and it gives the area more of a resort town feel. Golf carts feel friendlier, if that makes any sense. I do have questions though. Can you drive them to the gas pumps? Grocery stores? RV Park? Casino? Anywhere you want in town? If a RV park visitor has one with them, can they use it as-is or do they need a permit, sticker or license? Does this include side-by-side ATV-type vehicles as well? Thanks all for sharing your insights in the comments...

Jack's Place at 406 Main was our stop for lunch today on our Rising Sun Main Street food tour. If you are into the "working" diner feel, this is your stop. The shrimp special with homemade slaw and egg roll was less than $10...before tip. This is an easy walkable stop on Main from the riverfront or the Main Street shops and stops. Breakfast ends at 11 am but we will be back for the pancakes.

Rising Sun American Legion Post 0059 was our latest stop on the Rising Sun Main Street food tour. There are two big rooms that take up most of the first floor with plenty of space for groups. The food was good and value for the money close to excellent with an out-the-door price of $13 with sandwich, salad, drink and a tip. There are games of chance in both rooms if you enjoy. Please see the photos for current menus as of August 10, 2026.
