The Handmade's Tale
by Margaret Atwood

From the America Library Association's website:

Margaret Atwood The Handmaid’s Tale 1985 Story: Set in a future America that has turned into an anti-feminist state, Kate is a handmaid who lives a life of servitude but falls in love with a man who is not her assigned partner.

Reasons: Profanity, explicit, religious view point

Author comment: “I made a rule for myself: I would not include anything that human beings had not already done in some other place or time, or for which the technology did not already exist."

Did you see us and UPS Rob on the River Falls Volleyball broadcast? Our interview starts around the 5 1/2 min mark and is about 5 minutes long.

Another HUGE thank you to everyone who bought a UPS Rob calendar, shared our posts, and supported this fundraising project!

Thank you to the local businesses that matched donations! Mei Mei's Cookies & Creamery and JCE Tree Service () our $1,100 donation would not have been possible without you!

Please check out Rhinos Foundation to learn more about how they support people and families affected by cancer.

May your Monday be as cute, cozy, and magical as this coloring book!

Today, Sunday October 4th is the first day of Banned Books Week.

Books have the power to challenge us, open new perspectives, and give voice to experiences that deserve to be heard. We want banned books to be available and accessible to all who are interested. At Fox Den Books, look for our banned books display, shop our banned books section, and sign up for our ABC's of Banned Books Book Club.

Our banned books selection includes frequently challenged and banned books like The Handmaid’s Tale, The Poet X, The Fountainhead, The 1619 Project, Beloved, and many, many more.

Look for our Banned Books display downstairs, find a book that makes you curious, and read banned books.

Due to circumstances out of our control (we ordered these in June!), we are currently out of copies of next week's book club pick - Never Whistle at Night, An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology.

But the discussion must go on! We will meet on Sunday, October 11th at 5:00pm.

If you by chance have a copy that you are done with, let us know! We will help connect available copies to book clubbers who are still looking. Thank you all!
