COMMUNITY UPDATE: WYO 70 BATTLE PASS SEASONAL CLOSURE

Wyoming Highway 70 over Battle Pass in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range located in south-central Carbon County is officially closed for the season.

WYO 70 is one of two high-elevation state highways that close each winter here in Carbon County. Current road conditions and forecasts required WYDOT (Wyoming Department of Transportation) crews in Baggs and Saratoga to close the pass.

The closure encapsulates the stretch of Wyoming Highway 70 from mile marker 25 on the west side to mile marker 50 on the east side.

Last year WYO 70 was closed on November 27th.

***For all of our intrepid adventurers from other areas who enjoy using "alternate routes" during winter Interstate 80 closures, please note this closure also includes County Road 401 (Sage Creek) and County Road 500 (Jack Creek.) Your GPS can be a liar sometimes, and these are not alternate routes!
