A typical weekend at Mud Hut Pottery Studio looks a little something like this.

Pottery wheels spinning, handbuilding projects taking shape, walk-in pottery painting, instructors prepping clay for the next class, and our barista getting the espresso machine ready for Coffee & Clay.

And that’s only what you see on the surface.

Behind the scenes, our studio team is constantly working to care for every piece made by hand. Our techs process finished pottery, load and unload kilns, glaze pieces, fire them again, sort everything, and carefully pack your finished creations for pickup.

There are a lot of hands involved in keeping a pottery studio running and getting your handmade pieces safely back to you.

It’s busy. It’s messy. And it’s all part of a typical weekend at Mud Hut.

Can you hear the difference?

One piece is greenware and one is bisque, and a simple flick tells our pottery tech exactly which is which.

Greenware hasn’t been fired yet and gives off a duller sound, while bisque has already been through its first kiln firing and has a clearer, more resonant ring.

It’s one of those little pottery tricks you learn when you spend enough time around clay.
