Do you remember a while ago when I re-silvered that mirror for an antique secretary? (I’ll pin that reel to the top of my page, if you’re interested). Well, this little vanity is from the same client, and once again, her piece has taught me a new skill (with the help of ideas from the shop teacher at my school 😉). That skill is replacing a broken away drawer face bottom with wood (instead of with Bondo, as I’ve done in the past). This dresser also taught my client that not all tiger oak grain is real! 🤣 She had hopes of refinishing it as original, but the faux grain had worn away on the legs and I wasn’t going to try and mimic that finish! But, there was still hope of not painting, so I stripped everything away. The top had a decent oak veneer, but everywhere else was secondary wood and wasn’t too impressive. So, client opted for paint. This was her grandma’s vanity and I’m sure it would have a special place in my client’s heart, no matter how it looks! 🥰 But, I think it looks pretty good!! Swipe for some behind the scenes shots of my work on the antique vanity. 🥰

Is it a Spanish Revival from the 1920s-30s, or a Victorian Renaissance Revival from 1895-1910? I have no idea, but AI is telling me it’s the latter. Is it a console, hall table or a sofa table? Also no idea, and AI was non-committal. 🤣 But what I KNOW it is, is unique and beautiful! 🤩 This was another fix and cleanup job. The fix was creating replica appliqués and feet rounds to replace those that were missing. The clean up involved refinishing the top, adding a light black wash everywhere and sealing. 🤌🏻

This little server was a stinker! Literally! 🤣 Its previous owner was a smoker, and maybe used the cabinet to store his or her stock (a torn piece of packaging was found inside). My client bought this piece from a shop and realized her mistake as soon as she got it home and opened those doors. She inquired about returning it, but was told “no,” so that shop lost a very good customer. That very good customer happens to be a repeat client of mine and she contacted me for help. I let it air out, sprayed it with OdoBan for several days in a row then sealed the interior with shellac. I refinished with my client’s favorite black wash look and hopefully saved it from its demise! 🖤

I bought this amazing feed sack a couple years ago when I was doing a few sewing projects. I saved it for myself because I love the graphics! But, I’ve always felt it needed to be in the hands of someone with an equestrian style or a love of horses, and that’s just not me or my home. 🤷‍♀️ So, it’s available! It measures about 35”x19” and would be amazing in a frame or as a pillow/cushion. It does have three tears (see pics in comments) that could be repaired or patched, but does have the original seam at the bottom. Price is $50 and can be shipped (price not included). See comments for additional pics and send me a message with interest!
