Visit over 22 downtown locations, including museums, galleries and studios, presenting an eclectic mix of visual and performing arts. Either before or after, enjoy the many entertainment, dining and shopping experiences that downtown Riverside has to offer.

Beverly is an illustrator who joined the Riverside Artswalk community just last year—and we’re so excited to feature her this month! After creating art since childhood, she’s turned her lifelong passion into a full-time career, bringing her colorful creativity to every piece she makes.

🎨 July Artist Spotlight: James McClung 🎨
James McClung is a contemporary artist whose work has been recognized for its layered storytelling and exploration of identity, history, and lived experience. Recently featured in the Los Angeles Times for his contribution to the Our Empire exhibition, McClung continues to expand his practice through work that engages with place, perspective, and cultural narrative.
His work is currently on view in Our Empire at The Cheech Center, where viewers can experience his pieces alongside other contemporary voices shaping the conversation in today’s art landscape.

🎨 June Artist Spotlight: Lana Licata Manzo 🎨
Born in Placentia and now based in Riverside, artist Lana Licata Manzo creates vibrant, immersive works that blend fine art with craft-based practices including weaving, basketmaking, textiles, beading, and embroidery. Her colorful installations explore themes of connection, community, and shared creative experience.
As part of her residency at the Riverside Art Museum, visitors are invited to experience Lana’s creative process firsthand during open studio hours, Wednesday–Saturday from 11 AM–4 PM in the Powell and DeVean Galleries. Her residency will be on view through August 30, 2026.

🎧 May Music Spotlight: Marc Goldstein (DJ Birdtastique) 🎧
Marc Goldstein, also known as DJ Birdtastique, began his musical journey as a kid singing along to the radio before diving into records of his own and dreaming of starting a band. In the early ’80s, he helped form the Inland Empire punk band When Kids Are Alone, playing DIY shows across the region. In the early 2000s, he co-founded the DJ duo Mantastique, turning a quiet Tuesday night at a Riverside bar into a packed, 1,200-person phenomenon. That success led to years of residencies and performances across Southern California, helping shape the local DJ scene. Today, Marc is a staple of Riverside’s music culture, performing regularly at Artswalk and local venues and curating DJ sets at Coachella for over 15 years. A lifelong Riversider, he continues to bring energy, color, and community to every set. Make sure to check him out at the Benjamin Franklin Stage on May 7th during Artswalk!

🎧 Artista del Mes de Mayo: Marc Goldstein (DJ Birdtastique) 🎧
Marc Goldstein, también conocido como DJ Birdtastique, comenzó su trayectoria musical de niño, cantando junto a la radio antes de adentrarse en sus propios discos y soñar con formar una banda. A principios de los años 80, ayudó a formar la banda punk del Inland Empire When Kids Are Alone, tocando en shows DIY por toda la región.
A inicios de los 2000, cofundó el dúo de DJs Mantastique, convirtiendo una tranquila noche de martes en un bar de Riverside en un fenómeno con 1,200 personas. Ese éxito dio lugar a años de residencias y presentaciones en todo el sur de California, ayudando a dar forma a la escena local de DJs.

🎨 May Artist Spotlight: Leslie A. Brown 🎨
Leslie A. Brown is a University Honors graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, the University of New Mexico (Painting & Printmaking), and the Maryland Institute College of Art (Business). During her graduate studies, she received a prestigious fellowship to study printmaking at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
With a 40-year career as both an artist and educator, Leslie’s exhibition history is extensive, with work held in private, corporate, and museum collections across the United States and Europe.
She is currently a tenured Professor of Art at Riverside City College and Gallery Director of The Quad Gallery in Riverside. Show her some love as this month’s Artist Spotlight by checking out her artwork on display at Division 9 Gallery during Artswalk!
