A little late perhaps in wishing you all this greeting, however, it's only because we've been so busy behind the scenes, that we just simply haven't had a chance to scratch ourselves.
We'd like to fill you in on what's been happening, so you have a better understanding of why our efforts have been so inwardly focused.
Here's our story at this point in time. We hope it doesn't upset too many of you but we feel it only fair to share it with you, as you've all helped us in one way or another and we humbly appreciate it each and every day.
Fur child number 1 - Mylo.
Mylo cane to us with geriatric onset arthritis. Through consultations with our vet family Vetwest Animal Hospitals , we were able to ascertain the extent of his arthrits and treat it accordingly after x-rays and thourough examination. Mylo will be on medication for this for the remainder of his long life 🙏🏻🙂
Mylo is currently on trial with an amazing family.
Fur child number 2 - Sweep.
Sweep came to us with a known congenital heart defect, which she was born with and has been identified by professionals as Ebstiens Anomoly. Basically her heart is a ticking time bomb and she'll be lucky to see her 3rd birthday. There is nothing that can be done for it but we have covered all bases regarding vet care and specialist opinions. Including ultra sounds, echo cardiogram and talks via our wonderful vet at Vetwest, with Cardiac specialists over East. Please also understand that Sweep was surrendered purely because she is unable to live in a multiple dog household, as this would lead to her heart deteriorating even faster, due to her being super friendly and wanting to play A LOT. She is currently in foster care and her carer has indicated that she will become a permanent member of the family.
Fur child number 3 - Pippa
Pippa came to us with what looked like early onset arthritis or possible hip dysplasia. Little did we know, that after going to her foster carers who had fallen in love with her almost instantly, that 4 days later she would rupture her left cruciate and reveal a nasty tear, that will also need surgery, to her right cruciate. Double whammy!! This left us utterly gutted for not only Pippa but for her new family also. Pippa was scheduled for surgery asap and is now in week 3 of recovery. She is undergoing physiotherapy to help with a speedy and non complicated recovery with her left cruciate but also to help support her right knee, so it can hold out until her left knee has fully recovered. THEN she will go in for surgery again. We are currently looking at close to year in our care 😔
Now that's only 3 of the kids we've been doing our very best to help. We have other fur kids who have needed, sedation before vet visits due to poor early socialising and exposure, ear infections, standard speys, teeth cleans and extractions, vaccinations and run of the mill health checks.
So over all, with just the 3 kids that we've given you the low down on, the last few months have seen us having to spend approximately $6300 to ensure they have been given the care they need and deserve. And Pippa still needs her second cruciate repair which is an outstanding $5k with after care for her current surgery not included.
As you can understand, yet once again this has depleted our financial reserves to a critical limit and we still have more that we need to outlay as the furkids are still coming in and some have serious health issues we need to address immediately.
If you can spare even $5 towards our ongoing vet costs, we would be eternally grateful and we can also provide a tax receipt for any donation over $2.
We understand this is THE worst time of year to be asking for help, especially after the big Christmas spend but we wouldn't ask if circumstances weren't dire.
