The injunction out of Washington Co tonight has no impact on FFLs as written. It does not stop or postpone the July 1, 2026 start date.
Tuesday, June 30 is the last day we can sell or transfer items impacted by the law including "AW" and magazines over 15 rounds. We have about 10 items requiring BG checks and 25 mags available tonight before 10pm and tomorrow 9am-10pm.
If you have not picked up your transfer (And there are OVER 100 OF YOU as of 7:48pm 6/29/26) OR if your background check is delayed past 10pm 6/30/26 then you will NOT be able to take possession of your item(s). If you come crying to us on July 1, we will weep with you but will not be able to give them to you. Seriously, where the heck are you? Get in here and do the paperwork!!
PURCHASE OR TRANSFER. Several folks have assumed that if they purchase something before the deadline, they are "good". That is TRUE if you purchased it days, weeks, or years ago. That is NOT TRUE if you purchased it today. TRANSFER is a legal change of possession (like from us to you after a BG check).
CONSIGNMENTS. Keep in mind if you have an impacted item on consignment (with us or anywhere in VA) as we understand it you will NOT be able to pick it up after 6/30/26. Since these require a BG check and you have "transferred" possession to a dealer to sell, it's a no-go. We can still sell it online/out of state.
REPAIRS. The AWB does allow for items to be returned after temporary possession for gunsmithing, repair, etc. So Cerakote, upgrades, etc will be fine. However, the original person dropping off the item will be required to pick it up. As no BG check is required and legal ownership does not change for repairs, this will continue on as "normal".
Of course we don't want this law to go into place. But we are committed to getting as many of the impacted items into the hands of law-abiding citizens before the clock strikes 10pm Tuesday night. Why not midnight? VSP stops their BG checks at 10pm. So that is the swan song for these.
Of course, this is all subject to change based on additional judicial orders or updated interpretation by attorneys. Unfortunately, name calling and false narratives won't change these laws as of right now.
