PREDATORY FISH HIGHLIGHT 😤🐠🫧

Xingu Pike Cichlid: A rare predatory fish from the rapids in Brazil! These fish are very intelligent and have bold personalities . Best kept in 125 gallon + as they get 10-14 inches !

Alligator gar : If you’re looking for one of the largest freshwater fish, these monsters can grow 4-6 feet in captivity but wild alligator gar can reach 8-10 feet!  Once adults they will need 500gallons +😳 Alligator gar can breathe air which helps them survive in very stagnant waters.

Jardini arowana : If you’re looking for a true centerpiece for your aquarium, these beautiful fish can get 24 inches !  Make sure to have a secure lid as they are expert jumpers. Like some other special freshwater fish, Jardini have a specialized swim bladder to help them breathe air during dry seasons and while instagnant water !

Whites tree frogs are an arboreal and nocturnal species that are native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Tthey prefer a moist, forest environment, but can live in season dry or wet habitats. Whites teee frogs also range in colors from a light blue to an emerald green (like chameleons these frogs will also change a slight color depending on mood or environment!) These frogs can get up to 4.5 inches with a lifespan of 10-15 years . The main diet for these frogs consists of crickets , roaches or moths . While most tree frog species have vertical (cat like eyes), these dumpy frogs have horizontal pupils giving them a bigger field of vision to spot predators and hunt prey !

Fish Friday is back !
Stop on in at either location and check out this weeks newest fish ! 🐟🫧

White skirt tetras are a great schooling and social fish ! They will add a nice bright shimmering color to your aquarium. Did you know white skirt tetras are a color variety of the black skirt tetra!

If you’re looking to add more color to your livebearer tank, the red twinbar swordtails are perfect for you! Not only are they brightly colored, they are super active and hardy ! Males get the long double tail, while the females will stay much shorter.

Red platy are another great selection to add a pop of color to your tank. These fish are also very hardy and active.

Did you know neocariidina shrimp don’t go though a free swimming larvae stage, and actually hatch as mini versions of the adults? Red Orange Neocaridina Shrimp are little gems for your planted aquariums. They love grazing on biofilm and algae, and don’t grow bigger than 1-1.5 inches.

BABY BEARDIES ARE BACK🐉🥹 :

Baby bearded dragons need a special diet to help them grow and get all the nutrients possible! Baby’s need 80% bug diet and 20% greens. Once they become adults, it switches and they need 80% greens and 20% bugs! Greens can include collard and mustard greens. Don’t forget to dust your bugs with calcium powder 3-4 times weekly (adults only 1-2 ) Safe bugs include crickets and Dubia roaches ! Mealworms, wax worms and hornworms are an occasional snack should only be offered seldomly due to the fats and little to no protein. Remember, no bugs bigger than the space in between their eyes !

Reptile highlight ! Come on down and see our beautiful geckos and baby snakes 🥰🐍🦎

Crested geckos make amazing pets because of their unique personalities and are “low maintenance “ ( meaning you do not need to handle them daily or at all )! Cresties can live 10-15 years with good care . These geckos also have specialized toe pads to help them grip and climb many different surfaces.

Arctic hognose snakes are one of the most dramatic amongst them all , when “threatened “ (or offered food) they may hiss or flatten their necks to try to scare you off ! Hognoses are built for burrowing. Their upturned nose acts as a shovel to dig though soil or sand while searching for food !

Milk snakes are back ! .
milk snakes are very carious and active !these snakes are more active at evening and night time (nocturnal) . Despite their bright patterns these snakes mimic a venomous snake and do not have any venom at all .

This weeks fish highlight :

Golden wonder kilifish are top dwelling fish that love live foods and have excellent eyesight ! Did you know their mouths face upward to make it easier for them to catch live pray off of the water surface !

Rabbit snails are back in stock !
Unlike most snails these cool little guys are livebeareres and only give birth to one or two baby’s at a time ! Rabbit snails prefer warmer waters and can reach about 4-5 inches !

Garra ruffa are also known as doctor fish and are famously known for nibbling at dead or loose skin but don’t actually have teeth !
