Plants are considered pet friendly if they are completely non-toxic.

What characteristics do pet friendly plants have?

🔴Non-Toxic Chemically: all plant parts (leaves, stems, roots & flowers) are free from toxins.
🟠Digestible: If a pet accidentally nibbles on the leaves, the material will easily pass through their system without long-term harm or severe vomiting.
🟡Irritant-Free: They do not contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals (which cause burning and swelling of the mouth) or enzymes that cause excessive drooling.

100% pet friendly plants will not cause organ damage, severe vomiting or diarrhea, making them a great option for homes with curious chewers.

We’ve labeled all pet friendly plants with a conspicuous paw print sticker to help take some of the anxiety out of plant shopping!
Not in love with any of the plants in stock with paw prints? We can help you find a plant that will work with your environment, and still be safe for your pet!
Some plants that contain toxins have them in such low concentrations and bioavailability that they might still work for your unique situation. We can also give advice on how to keep mischievous pets away from your plants.
While we rarely stock highly toxic plants, when they are in stock they are also boldly labeled.
