Who else remembers seeing one of these glowing in the window and instantly knowing ice cream was nearby?

This 30 inch vintage SAFE-T-CUP ice cream cone light is one of those pieces that takes you right back to summer nights, bike rides, neighborhood ice cream stands, and chasing down the ice cream truck before it got away.

It’s amazing how something so simple can unlock decades of memories. For some people it’s toys, for others it’s video games… but for a lot of us, it’s seeing a giant glowing ice cream cone and knowing a sweet treat was gonna be had.
Beach Boys Toys is where nostalgia comes in all flavors.

Talk about a snapshot of the 1980s computer scene…

On one side you’ve got Battletech: The Crescent Hawk’s Inception, one of the most iconic Commodore 64 strategy/RPG titles of the era. Giant battle mechs, deep gameplay, and enough disk swapping to test your patience.

On the other side? Strip Poker DataDisk #3. Because apparently after saving the galaxy and piloting a BattleMech, 1980s computer owners needed… additional “research material.”

The beauty of vintage computing is that it wasn’t just games. It was a wild mix of strategy, adventure, education, business software, and things that definitely made your parents wonder what you were doing in your bedroom with the Commodore 64.

Two very different pieces of software history. Same computer. Same decade. Same nostalgia.

What was the weirdest, coolest, or most memorable Commodore 64 game or program you remember?

I’ve been watching Filthy Fortunes and I genuinely enjoy the show because a lot of what they do mirrors what I do when helping people with collections and estates.

That being said, I have one major gripe.

Does anyone else think TV collectible values have created unrealistic expectations?

I can’t tell you how many times someone walks into the store after watching a picking or collecting show and expects every old toy, comic, action figure, or collectible to be worth a fortune. The problem is that TV values, asking prices, insurance values, and actual sold prices are often very different things.

In the real world, condition matters. Completeness matters. Demand matters. Most importantly, what someone actually paid for an item matters.

I’m not saying collectibles aren’t valuable. Some absolutely are. But I’ve found that social media, television, and even eBay asking prices have made it harder than ever for people to know what something is really worth.

For those of you who collect, buy, sell, or pick, what’s your opinion?

Have shows like Filthy Fortunes, Pawn Stars, and American Pickers helped educate people about collectibles, or have they created unrealistic expectations about value?

I’d honestly like to hear both sides of the argument.

Sting has had a lot of action figures over the years, but this one is on a whole different level.
The AEW Supreme Collection Sting comes loaded with interchangeable heads, hands, entrance gear, and enough display options to make most wrestling figures look boring. Love him or hate him, Sting is one of those wrestling icons that transcends generations.
WCW fans, NWA fans, TNA fans, and AEW fans can all appreciate this one.

How many of you checked out of The Walking Dead after Glenn’s death?

Seeing these two figures side by side got me thinking. Negan may have become one of the most popular characters in the entire series, but Glenn’s death was the moment the show changed forever for a lot of fans.

I’ll admit it… I was one of them.

I watched faithfully for years, but after Glenn was killed, something about the show just felt different. I stuck around for another season or two, but my interest slowly faded and eventually I stopped watching altogether.

So I’m curious:

Did Glenn’s death make you stop watching?
Did you keep going all the way to the end?
Or did the series actually get better for you after that moment?

Let’s hear it, Walking Dead fans. Was Glenn’s death the beginning of the end, or just another chapter in the story? 🧟‍♂️📺

We’ve had quite a few people walk into the store, stop dead in their tracks, and ask…

“What is THAT?”

What you’re looking at is the giant 1:6 scale Tyco R/C Tumbler from Batman Begins. This wasn’t a small toy aisle Batmobile. At nearly 28 inches long, it was one of the largest mass-produced Batmobile toys ever sold at retail.

And for a sense of scale, the Batman standing on top of the box is a 12-inch figure.

Working suspension.
Lights.
Sounds.
Remote control.
And enough shelf presence to make every other Batmobile in the room look like a Hot Wheels car.

Around here we’ve started calling it the B.A.B.

What’s B.A.B. stand for?

Big Ass Batmobile. 😂

Available now at Beach Boys Toys.

Specialty Stompers in the 1980s went way beyond just monster trucks… and these two pieces are proof of how wild and creative Schaper got during the golden era of battery-powered toys.

On the left is the incredibly tough-to-find 1985 McDonald’s promotional mail-away Stomper. It was a fully motorized working truck that kids had to send away for during the height of the Stomper craze.
Next to it is one of the rare amphibious “Water Demons” vehicles from 1983. The RSV-1 Rescue Assault Hovercraft, designed to actually run on BOTH land and water. Complete with pilot figure and futuristic rescue styling straight out of an 80s cartoon lineup.

These specialty releases showed how far the Stompers line expanded beyond standard trucks, turning into experimental, mail-away, and even amphibious vehicles that most kids never even saw in stores.
Two amazing examples of peak 1980s toy imagination now on display/sale at Beach Boys Toys in Rockford, Illinois.
