Here is our full statement given to WIFR TV for their story on 7OH today.
"Gambling helps no one. Alcohol helps no one. Yet, these are both socially acceptable in today's society and marketed to everyone through every media platform.
While 7oh isn't approved by the FDA, it has helped many people manage their health issues. Many people who suffer through pain on a daily basis in the U.S. aren't able to access, or simply cannot afford, prescription medicines. Others are given prescriptions through predatory practices that often leave them stranded when their insurance falls through.
Yes, 7oh can be addictive—just like many other substances when used on a daily basis.
At Peace Novelty, we make sure our customers understand the risks beforehand and allow them to make informed decisions as adults. We provide guidance, such as not taking it daily, keeping their dosage low, or only taking it as needed. If a customer feels they need to step back from it, we do everything we can to help guide and support them in reducing their use.
We don't disagree that some of the packaging and names of these products are less than desirable. But the same can be said for many craft beers.
While it seems the government and the American Kratom Association have already taken a stance on 7oh, we encourage them to reconsider. Instead of a complete ban, we urge them to look at ways to regulate the product and make it safer for consenting adults.
Many veterans, elderly, and just everyday people who live with pain on a daily basis need something other than a failed healthcare system to help them."
