Laminate vs LVP. Same look, very different performance. Here's what actually separates them. 🤔

🪵 Laminate has a wood composite core. It looks beautiful and is budget-friendly, but it is NOT waterproof. Standing water can cause it to swell and warp.

💧 LVP is 100% vinyl all the way through, making it completely waterproof and a better fit for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.

🦶 Feel: LVP is slightly softer and quieter underfoot. Laminate can sound hollow without quality underlayment.

Neither is the wrong choice. It just depends on the room and how your household lives.

A great floor starts with what’s underneath it.

Whether you choose hardwood, engineered wood, LVP, Loose Lay Vinyl, tile or carpet, proper preparation matters.

Every flooring product has different requirements, but the principle is the same: the finished floor is only as good as the surface it’s installed over.

Before installation, we look at the conditions that can affect the finished product—flatness, moisture, cracks, high and low areas, existing adhesives and other substrate issues. Addressing those conditions before the new floor goes down can make a major difference in how it looks, performs and lasts.

Loose Lay Vinyl is a great example. It offers excellent dimensional stability, feels comfortable underfoot, performs well in busy households and has no click-locking system to fail. But like every flooring choice, it still needs the right preparation and installation.
