New month, new Facebook Live sale!

Join me this Thursday, September 10 at 7 PM to see the treasures I’ve collected over the last couple of weeks—because resting may be necessary, but buying vintage waits for no woman.

Unfortunately, Labor Day weekend became less “last hurrah of summer” and more “lie down before your body does it for you.” I’m the only person capable of catching the summer plague when it’s 141 million degrees outside. A rare talent, but a talent nonetheless.

I’ve rested. I’m still rallying. But I have a pile of vintage treasures, a Facebook Live to host, and absolutely no intention of letting the summer plague run this operation.

See y’all Thursday at 7 PM. Come ready to claim your favorites—and kindly overlook any lingering signs that I’m being held together by determination and cold medicine.

Happy Labor Day weekend, folks!

New stickers have arrived at The Painted Trunk, and most of them are book-themed—because buying books wasn’t enough. Now we need little sticky declarations explaining our questionable reading habits, too.

We’re open until 3 PM today for the “last weekend of summer,” which feels suspicious considering it is still approximately 147 degrees outside.

Beginning next week, we’re back to our regularly scheduled 10–5 days and the usual vintage nonsense.

I’m hitting the road today because it’s always a good day to go hunting for treasures—even when it’s 141,000,000° outside and the air feels personally insulting.

Here’s hoping I come back with a truckload of old things, several questionable purchases, and only a mild case of heatstroke.

Y’all are bringing in some seriously good jewelry.

A little too good, honestly. I have already started setting things aside “just to think about,” which is shopkeeper language for this item may never see the sales floor.

The first weekend of the Jewelry Consignment Sale is September 17–19. First weekend—because the volume of jewelry coming through the door has made it clear that one weekend would be adorable and completely insufficient.

There is still time to consign. We’re accepting vintage and costume jewelry, beads, broken pieces, and all the bits and bobs you’ve been saving for a project that has shown absolutely no signs of beginning.

📚 THE BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!

If you requested a copy of The Lost Apothecary, come pick it up this week so you have something to read over Labor Day—or carry around while telling everyone you’re about to start it.

The Painted Trunk Not-a-Book Club meets September 22.

You do not have to finish the book before our first meeting. This is not a race, there will be no pop quiz, and nobody is getting disqualified for still being on chapter four.

Read at your own pace. Show up anyway. We’re here for books, beverages and questionable commentary—not academic pressure.

Come pick up your requested copy this week—and tag your reading buddy who needs a book club with very low expectations. 📖

September at The Painted Trunk is looking a little… busy.

We’ve got something happening every single week, and new vintage, books, oddities, seasonal goodness, and assorted what-in-the-world-is-that treasures hitting the floor every day.

Basically, there will always be a reason to stop in—and if you wait too long, somebody else may carry your favorite thing out the door while you’re still thinking about it.

Please note: this is the STORE’S September schedule.

My personal schedule should not be viewed by anyone. It is a jumbled mess held together by caffeine, misplaced lists, and blind optimism. I’ll be simultaneously pricing antiques, rearranging displays, answering messages, forgetting where I put my phone, attempting to photograph new arrivals, making a “quick” supply run that becomes a three-hour side quest, feeding the rabbit, arguing with the rabbit, losing an argument with the rabbit, and pretending the pile of paperwork is not becoming sentient.

There may also be hauling furniture, questionable ladder decisions, at least one dramatic encounter with a label maker, and several moments where I stand in the middle of the store holding an object and whisper, “Why am I carrying this?”

If you see me moving quickly, please assume it is either urgent or that I have remembered something I was supposed to do yesterday.

You’ve got a jewelry box full of things you haven’t worn since approximately never. A drawer of tangled necklaces. Grandma’s brooches.
