The Story of Magnolia June’s Antiques & Mercantile - A Special Pop-Up Store

Magnolia June’s Antiques & Mercantile is more than a shop—it’s a love letter to our mother, Wanda R. Born in Maynardville, Tennessee, on June 2, 1936, Wanda grew up with a strong sense of family, community, and service. Her early years were filled with cherished moments with her parents, Kenneth and Zettie Raley, and her cousins, whom she regarded as siblings. This foundation of love shaped the woman she became—a trailblazer, a nurturer, and a servant-leader. Wanda co-founded the Raley-Vaughan Motor Company, excelling in business and customer care, where she treated every client as family. From leading one of the first integrated Girl Scout troops in Tennessee to championing healthcare and education initiatives, Wanda made an indelible impact on her community. She poured the same energy into her personal life. With her soulmate and partner, Eddie Kyle Vaughan, she raised a family anchored in love, faith, and dedication to serving others. Together, they were the ultimate team—leading youth programs, supporting the arts, and leaving a legacy of kindness and generosity. Though her accomplishments were many, her greatest joy was her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who continue to carry her spirit forward. Her dream of opening an antique store in downtown Rogersville was another expression of her love for family and community, envisioning it as a space where memories, stories, and history could be shared and celebrated. After her passing in June 2023, we felt called to bring her dream to life. Every item in Magnolia June’s Antiques & Mercantile reflects her discerning eye and passion for beauty and history. Over the years, she lovingly curated pieces from family collections, special finds, and contributions from friends. Each pop-up opening is a tribute to Wanda’s legacy, offering unique treasures and handmade items, such as custom woodworking by her grandson through Encore Custom Woodworks. Magnolia June’s also serves as a gathering place for friends, family, and the community to honor her memory and celebrate the things she held most dear. We are humbled by the love and support from everyone who has joined us in keeping Wanda’s dream alive. Whether you visit in person or explore the store through our upcoming website, we hope you’ll feel the love and care that made Magnolia June’s possible. Magnolia June’s Antiques & Mercantile is more than a store—it’s a reflection of Wanda’s life, her heart, and the legacy of love she left behind.

WE ARE SET UP AND READY FOR HERITAGE DAYS! EVERYTHING MUST GO!

The tables are full, the artwork is on the walls, and Magnolia June’s is ready for one final weekend!

Original works by Lorraine Brewer, Betty Skaggs, Don McDonald, Debbie Beal, and Sally Marion are here, along with antiques, collectibles, and so much more from our family collections.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY | 9 A.M. TO 5 P.M. 📍 110 South Church Street, across from Bull Babies

EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE! MAKE US AN OFFER!

We already have offers on most of the original artwork. We will negotiate on-site or accept the best offers at the end of Sunday.

We must be completely out Sunday night! What doesn't sell goes to auction, and we would much rather sell it here!

If you've already agreed to purchase something, please stop by during sale hours to pick it up.

Quick pickup: The alley beside the old Rogersville Review office off Washington Street can be used briefly for loading and pickup, but not parking.

This is our last weekend at Magnolia June’s, and what better time than Heritage Days to close this chapter!

Come see us, look around, and make us an offer. It all has to go!

I’m not sure how many people know this, but Heritage Days has its roots in an art show hosted by Bob Lane at Citizens Union Bank during around the Bicentennial celebration in 1976. Those early art shows and the local artists who participated in them helped grow into the Heritage Days festival we know and love today. Among those early artists were Lorraine Brewer and Betty Skaggs.
That makes what we are doing this Heritage Days weekend at Magnolia June’s especially meaningful to me.

As many of you know, I am selling my home in Rogersville and, with it, a collection of antiques and artwork that my family and I have collected for more than 50 years. I have also shared that the Magnolia June’s collection is being moved to auction. Broken Arch Gallery came last week with two trucks and loaded almost everything from the store, but they simply could not get it all!
So, I fibbed a little when I said a few weeks ago that Magnolia June’s had opened for the last time.

The new owners of the building have graciously agreed to let me open the store one final time during Heritage Days, both inside and outside, to sell what remains. We have to be 100% out by Sunday night, so everything has to go.

And here is what makes this weekend special: we are bringing down a large collection of artwork by Rogersville and Hawkins County artists, including works by Lorraine Brewer dating back to 1976, Betty Skaggs, Don McDonald, Sally Marion, and Debbie Beal, along with antiques and other pieces from the collection.

We have auction company appraisals on the artwork, but before these pieces leave Rogersville for auction, I would love to see as many of them as possible stay right here in Rogersville and Hawkins County.

Come see us Saturday and Sunday of Heritage Days, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Magnolia June’s, 110 South Church Street, across from Bull Babies.

This time I mean it: come see us at Magnolia June’s once and for all, one last time.

We have some news to share from Magnolia June’s.

110 South Church Street has sold, and we are excited that the family purchasing the building is committed to the preservation and character of Historic Downtown Rogersville. We believe they will do wonderful things with this special old building.

That also means it is time for us to clear out Magnolia June’s.

Although we stopped normal store operations some time ago because Terry’s work schedule made it difficult to keep the store regularly staffed, there are still a lot of antiques, furniture, merchandise and other pieces throughout the building.

Before we begin sending items to antique auction houses, we want to give our Magnolia June’s friends and customers an opportunity to come back through.

We will be open this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

If there was something you remember seeing at Magnolia June’s, or if you simply want to come see what is still here, please stop by 110 South Church Street in Historic Downtown Rogersville.

If you cannot make it this weekend, contact Terry at 865.209.7994 or [email protected], and we will work with you to arrange another time during the week.

Before these pieces leave Rogersville for an auction house, we would love to see as many of them as possible find homes with the people who supported Magnolia June’s.
