Molorida was born from the Welcome to Molorida, where the country meets the coast. Molorida was born from the owner's love of all things country and coastal. The name merged two states, Missouri and Florida where ingredients grow in abundance. Molorida is its own state....a state of mind that is, taking one on a journey to perhaps an oceanside with smells of ocean breezes and orange blossoms to a

hidden cabin in a forest of oakmoss and natural springs. At Molorida our artisan bath and body products are discerningly designed, handcrafted and packaged on sight in the USA. Ingredients are meticulously collected within our own gardens, local country sides and acquired from ethically sourced coastal regions from around the world. We take exceptional care in our commitment in formulating and offering the highest quality of products that offer a luxurious, comfortable, and joyful experience. We are proud to be home of the long-lasting soap bars, made with a handed down German rooted recipe over 100 years ago. Take a journey to the country-side where everyone greets with a hat tilt or to a relaxing in-home retreat at the beach enjoying the experience of Molorida.

Colonial women were burdened with the task of making soap for the family. Women made soap from leftover animal fat and lye.
Throughout the year the women saved all of the grease and wood ashes that would make the lye One barrel of soap normally required about six bushels of ashes and twenty-four pounds of grease. The wood ashes were put into a barrel with layers of straw between them. Then a little water was poured in every once in a while. There was a seep hole at the bottom of the barrel that the lye would slowly drip out of. The straw in the barrel kept the large pieces of ash from clogging the seep hole

The grease and lye were then boiled together in a large iron kettle over an outdoor fire. The soap was made outdoors because the smell was strong and terrible.
The grease and lye mixture was stirred constantly in one direction. The process of making soap was a difficult one and not always successful. It was common for neighbors to wish the woman next door good luck on her soap.
This process created a soft soap that felt like a clean jelly and showed no trace of the grease that was used to create it. The soft soap was used for monthly washings. The household wash accumulated and the washing was done once a month, or in some households once every three month

The women also made a hard soap with bayberry tallow and added salt, this soap was especially desirable for toilet use.
However, this was rarely done in order to preserve the salt for cooking. The most difficult part of making soap came from the judgment on the strength of the lye. The strength of the lye was tested on an egg or a potato to see if it was strong enough. If the lye could perforate the egg or potato, it was strong enough . It was very common to say "We had bad luck with our soap," or “we had good luck with our soap”

In the next few days I'll be making a soap I've always wanted to make. Two reasons I have not made it. First, I had to do a lot of research, figure out the correct formula and have the means to purchase the expensive oil. I finally got everything I need now and will be making it in the next few days. The soap I speak of is Aleppo soap and it is the oldest soap made in the world. It has its origins from Syria and it is made with Laurel Berry oil (expensive) and TUNISIAN EVOO (expensive too). This soap will have to be cured for 11 months. Here's some information about this beautiful soap.
Aleppo soap is antiseptic, soothing, moisturizing and hypoallergenic. It is so full of benefits for the skin, babies, adults and those with sensitive skin can use it. To me, that is a win win! 😃. It has a distinct earthly smell of olive oil and bay leaf ( (Laurel Oil). This lovely soap will change in color and texture as it continues to cure throughout the year. It will have uneven edges because it is rough cut in large squares the old traditional way. The color will be yellow/brown but inside will remain the emerald green color of the Laurel Oil. After a year the bar will be hard and will last a very long time (something my soaps are known for) 😃. Not only is this bar for all skin types and ages, it is also a shampoo bar 😃.....as you can see, one bar of this soap is a win win all the way around the circle.
If I get them made now they should be ready and good to go by Christmas. For those who are interested in getting a bar and want to reserve one to have..... I will be happy to hold one for you. Just message me and I'll add you to the reserve list at no cost to you at this time. I will have approximately 36 rough cut square bars with my seal stamped in the middle and something tells me they won't last long. Remember they will not be ready until December. I've added an internet photo of what traditional Aleppo soap looks like a long with my photo of the oils. I'm really excited to make this oldest soap in the world and so happy I figured how to make it. Weeeeeee 😃😃😃😃😃😃

The soap kitchen will be opening and I'm excited to create my newest specialty soap along with Spring time floral soaps with infused flowers from Missouri. I've got lots of stories to tell! 😍

When I decide to create something I find a lot of my creativity comes from things I love, a memory, inspiration from just talking to folks, a recipe, beautiful photography, desserts, mixed drinks, a walk in the woods, flowers, confectionary chocolates, or just make something from my mind. Being a soap maker, I can spend hours looking at beautiful cakes and get ideas for soap making designs. In looking at these which are not just beautiful, I see a soap design and adopt from the inspiration. This is when my mind takes me to the design, ingredient and scent world. Y'all wouldn't believe how many ideas spin in my mind.....whew! Being a creator can come from all things around us and one major and number #1 fact that all my soaps have is they all have a true story attached. For those who think they have no creativity.......look around you Because YOU DO! Right now, I have a new soap in the making and it will be a split scented bar which will probably be one of my best soaps. This batch has a wonderful story and my mom takes the stage in my upcoming new soap with real cream and infused herbals. They will be a unisex soap and will have a roller ball perfume for those who want to carry the scent all day long. Keep your eyes open.....they will be available soon. In the meantime, here are some random Internet photos of cakes .....can you be inspired, adopt and create something new from what you see? 😃

What do we do when store bought honey will not stand up to our standards in making our upcoming summer Honey Bee soaps? We buy local raw honey!

Harvested from her bee hives and from what she calls her "girls", Charlotte Ekker Wiggins Author , is our local Beekeeper. She gardens on a limestone hillside (Bluebird Gardens Quilt & Gifts) growing natives, teaches beekeeping classes and is author of the wonderful book A Beekeepers Diary-Self Guide to Keeping Bees.

We are thrilled to have a copy of her book and a jar of her "girls" raw honey for our soaps and well tea time too. If you would like a copy of her book or to pay her a visit, you can find Charlotte at homesweetbees.com or bluebirdgardens.com.

Before we know it summer will be here and our Honey Bee soaps will be buzzing to our shop soon!

Did you know we grow or forage for many of our ingredients that is in our soaps? With the spring season coming near many plants are slowly waking up and roots are releasing sap. Growing wild in a back country field the Yucca plant has been used for centuries for bathing and hair cleaning. Also, known as the soap plant it is full of Saponins that produce soapy suds and get you clean. Native Americans have the most beautiful hair in the world and now we know why. We could not pass up this find and brought a root back to the soap shop. Here, we processed the root and created a Yucca milk from the root and in the near future we will release our first shampoo bar.

Nothing can warm us up more than knowing the Spring season is right around the corner and Summer to follow. Spring time means new life and natures way of saying "I promised you I would be back and I'm waking up." Molorida responds to her by creating and making luxurious long lasting soaps that pay tribute to all her natural properties. The soap shop is in full production, churning, whipping, and stirring soapy delights that invite us to enjoy a new life from ole' man winter. Tropical soaps with Flamingo and Captains Quarters soaps,
Bee-utiful Things (honey soaps to honor the honeybee), The Plant Life series (4 soaps), and our men's line are all up on our next launch.
