As the sun sets on Haunters Against Hate: The Event IV, we want to thank everyone for stopping by and supporting our little shop! It means a lot to both of us! Either purchasing a goody or grabbing a flyer, thanks for all of your support. Without you, we wouldn’t be!

After that meeting with Paul 10 years ago, we now had three reasons we support HAH’s mission any way we can… I wonder where that kilt you were wearing went???
Reason #1
Haunt related! Duh!
Reason # 2
10 years ago we met Paul at TransWorld in St. Louis, and I told him about my sister. She and her girlfriend were out clubbing and were on their way to Pulse that night and decided to split from their group and go home. They lost family and friends that night and my sister was understandably shaken. We were shaken when we found out how close they were to the shooting. We snuck down to Florida with a little help from her friends, surprised her at one of her favorite breakfast spots. I didn’t realize but I needed to lay eyes on her and I hope she needed the same. The world needs less hate!
At the time, Jon and I were in the haunt industry, so on we went scaring and sharing HAH’s message wherever we could.
Now we had an organization we could support and have a connection with. Both of us have many family and friends that are LGBTQ+ and we support everyone fiercely!
Reason #3
As kids, Jon and I both were bullied and teased all through school. He was called gay and such, beat up and I had been in a foster home because of parental abuse, teased because I was fat and needed to diet. He wasn’t gay, but it didn’t stop the bullying, I did every diet, I exercised in my room at night in the dark, I was taken to Drs., tried ending my life and Jon’s cousin ended his life.

The one thing Jon and I want to say is… IT GETS BETTER! Keep going, you are loved by millions and everyone needs to hear that!
Jon and I actually met first in high school, first boyfriend & first girlfriend believe it or not! We have the Prom pictures to prove it! lol We were part of the Geek Club! Later (1994) we got back together and the rest is history!
Two years ago, were bullied out of our home haunt after 12+ years and we are now a solo gig popping up where we can with our shack, selling our creepy stuff, and with an occasional visit from Mabell!
This year, we were reminded of our
Reason #1
Many don’t know this, but at the end of March this year we got a call from a nurse that found my number buried in our son’s medical charts. She was from the company that handles organ donation for a hospital in San Diego. Our son Jeffrey had been hit by a pickup truck on the highway and the prognosis was dire. Jeffrey was going to be 34 this year. Right after he turned 18 he told us he was bi. I looked at him like, so?! I could tell he was scared and we were scared for him because of the world we live in but we didn’t care. He was our son. He died on March 27th.
These are three reasons why we will always love and support Haunters Against Hate!
Fast forward to yesterday, just an FYI, we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at home with each other binging on Criminal Minds! (Don’t judge!) We love you all! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 I love you baby! Thank you for making my life! Thank you for all the hard work you do making Mad Hatter Mary possible!
